This is going to sound crazy, but I have a sneaking suspicion I met George Clooney a couple years ago. I was interviewing for a job in Connecticut and flew into the Westchester airport. It's a very, very small airport (with a lot of very ritzy mansions nearby) that doesn't have VIP lounges - just every single airline and flight leaving from one big room with 2 or 3 gates - total. So my interview was over and I was seated in the big waiting room, and this guy sat down across from me about 10 feet away. I noticed he was really cute, had a nice face and a warm smile. He smiled at me, I smiled back and went back to my reading. He caught my eye a couple times - I think he was bored. About 20 minutes before my flight boarded, I got up to go the restroom and had to take my stuff with me so when I came back, my seat had been taken. One of the only seats open was next to this guy. So I sat next to him. He said something like, "just couldn't stay away from me, huh?" and I said something like, "you know it. I can't resist strange guys in airports." We laughed and started chatting. He asked what I was doing in Westchester and I asked him the same, and he said he'd just done a show there. I asked him what kind of show and he said he was a stand-up comedian who specialized in corporate events and celebrity impersonations. I said, "you could totally impersonate George Clooney" and he said, "yeah, he's someone I do pretty well" and made a few quotes. I laughed, but then got suddenly nervous because it occurred to me that this guy was such a dead ringer for George - same face, same hair, same height/build, same voice - that it could actually be him. Swallowed the nerves, and we kept talking and exchanged names and when my flight was called, I gave him my card and said, "hey, next time you're in DC for a public show, drop me a line and I'll come down and check out your act."
I got back to DC and googled every possible spelling/variation of the name he had given me and found absolutely no comedians under that name. Most entertainers have some sort of web presence. I mentioned it to a friend and she said she bet it was him - that he seems like a prankster who would totally tell a stranger he was someone different and make up a story. He never did call me! of course. To this day, I really think I might have met George Clooney. |

I met Martin Sheen, Richard Schiff and Bradley Whitford from the West Wing at Dulles airport a couple of years ago.
They flew in from LA on the same flight as DH and his mom. DH, not being a West Wing fan, did not even realize it. I stared at them like a crazed fan the whole time we were waiting for the luggage in the baggage area. I was giddy. Martin Sheen was lovely, said hello and waved by as they got into the limo outside the terminal. |
| I have a good friend whose FIL is a celebrity, but more so for my mom's generation (member of an important band from the 60s). I missed meeting him because we were out of town for her daughter's birthday party, but my mom was babysitting for us and took my son, and it meant a lot to her to meet him. |
I made out with the lead singer of Squeeze when I was 16. He was a perfect gentleman when I didn't want to go all the way. Looking back, the age difference made him kind of pervy. It was fun though.

I met Andrew Shue if that counts. I was at a fashion show for an Indian designer in New York and he was standing there talking with some people. I knew he looked familiar but couldn't place him, so then I thought, OOOH, that's my friend's older brother. I went up and said, "hey how are you doing? etc." I must have been convincing because he was polite and acted like he knew me too, but then later on I realized he was NOT my friend's brother but actually Andrew Shue. LOL!

| I sat next to the heavy set guy from the 80s show "head of the class" on an airplane once! also saw the singer joss stone on the streets on NYC. |

Sat next to Richard Gere on a flight from Bangalore to Frankfurt a few months ago. Quiet, polite. Very earthy-cruncyh looking, longish hair. Didn't even recognize him at first (not really a fan), flight attendant told me. Also older looking than in the movies.....
Sat behind Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher on LA to Frankfurt flight not long ago. Boy, is she TINY. And had some work done. (yes, I spend a lot of time in airplanes). |
Who??? |
| I didn't actually shake her hand, but I sat about 10 feet from Angelina Jolie at the National Geographic Building on World Refugee Day. Wow, most stars don't look as good in person as they do on tv. She looked a thousand times more beautiful in person!!! She's very graceful too. |
Well??? Some of us are old enough to appreciate him, I'd bet. |

My brother hung out in an airport lounge with the Jonas Brothers. Said they seemed nice. He (being in his thirties) didn't realize who they were, so he had to call me to ask if they were a big deal. This was about a year ago.
Was on a flight once with Vernon Jordan. Dude was a commanding presence. |

I've met Cindy Crawford, Marcia Cross, Jeremy Irons, Sean Connery, Peter Gabriel, Joseph Fiennes and Dustin Hoffman.
The first two I met on a plane, and was seated next to them on separate occasions. Both talked to me at length and were beautiful, and polite. CC I met maybe 10 years ago, and MC during her stint on Melrose Place. JI and SC I met in London. I exchanged a few workds with JI but had no idea who he was. SC I actually didn't speak to because I was so taken aback by his charm and presence. Peter Gabriel was the father of a high school friend and he came and led our choir. Dustin Hoffman I saw in a hotel lobby in LA, and Joseph Fiennes in a hotel lobby in NYC. |
I'm surprised that celebrities fly commercial. I'd always assumed they only flew private jets. Guess I'm pretty naive. |
| I used to run into the members of Hootie and the Blowfish all the time. They're all normal and nice. |
