Celebrity encounter: fact or fiction?

I met James Carville at Barnes and Noble. I was too star struck to talk to him. Much smaller in person.

Saw Matthew McConahey (sp?) at a hotel restaurant in LA. Also short in person, and scruffy.

I saw James Carville in Westminster Abbey in London - very random.
I went to high school with Sarah Silverman. We played on the softball team together. She always had the lead in every play!

Rod Stewart. He is a tiny man with a gigantic head. But very warm.

Let's keep out the DC type sitings, they are a dime a dozen (I've seen Carville a number of times around Old Town).

I saw Vanessa Williams at a restaurant in Montreal. Very beautiful and has a great laugh.

Also, saw Clare Danes in a bathroom in a restaurant in Soho. She looked pretty average in person.

Oh, are we counting DC celebrities? I thought we were excluding the "Hollywood for Ugly People." Although, I must say, some Congressmen have so much charisma in real life, I have had urges to throw my panties at them (Bart Gordon from TN is one...unremarkable in pictures...exudes charm in real life).

I was interning one summer and had to hold water bottles for Vicki Lawrence (from the Carol Burnett show). She was very cranky after a 10 city tour promoting her new show, but her husband was a lovely guy. I met Katie Couric years back as the woman I was interning for was an old friend of hers. She's exactly like she is on TV: warm and bubbly.

I shook Hilary Clinton's hand and had a short conversation with her at my grad school graduation. Too much makeup but much warmer in real-life than her image in the media.

Forget to add that my ophtalmologist is Jared Leto's dad. Maybe there is a "My So Called Life" theme here...

I ran into Ben Harper in an airport coffee shop after the Austin City Limits Music Festival a few years ago. He did an amazing show the day before. It is unbelievable how hot that man is in person, and how warm and friendly. Laura Dern is a lucky woman.

I met Sandra Day O'Connor not long after she was appointed to the Supreme Court. I sold her many poinsettia's which she was giving to her staff. I worked at Johnson's Flower Center, back when it was on Wisc. Ave across from the post office. Lots of famous people shop (or shopped) there.

Me and my giant pregnant belly were approaching a public restroom at the same time as Sarah Michelle Gellar. She insisted on letting me go first, in kind of an over-the-top gushy (but very sweet) way. When I came out, she told me I looked beautiful (like whales are beautiful, I guess), asked about my due date, sex of the baby, etc. Gushed about how lucky I was and how she couldn't wait to have a baby. Sure enough, the tabloids announced her pregnancy about six months later. She is a tiny little pocket-person, by the way.

Harrison Ford walking down M Street in Georgetown. My husband (huge Indiana Jones and Star Wars fan) followed him into the Four Seasons and rode the elevator with him.
John Malkovich and Phillip Seymor Hoffman in Georgetown too.
Paulina Poriskova in a hotel in Cyprus during her super model days (drop dead gorgeous!).
David Bowie at an ice cream shop in Lausanne
My husband saw Bono walking along 6th Av in NYC at 6 in the morning.

Fact: I spotted Rivers Cuomo (from the band Weezer) out side of Politics and Prose one day several years ago...turns out they were recording an album somewhere in D.C. I did a double take as I was walking passed him and then he said, "Yeah, I'm the guy from Weezer."

Fiction: I'd love to meet Angelina Jolie.

My sister met Will Smith in Georgetown while he was filming a movie here. Actually, he almost walked right into her! She said he was VERY personable. He stopped and chatted with her for a bit, signed an autograph and took a photo with her.

She also has hung out with Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) and said he was a really nice guy and very short.

Wolf Blitzer was haunting me for a while. Sat behind me in the cinema once. Then, a year or two later, he was on my plane flying back from Miami. Luckily I had splashed out on the seats with extra leg-room, whereas he hadn't, so I didn't have to sit with him breathing down my neck that time.

You can't tell this from tv but he actually has tiny, stubby little legs, like hippopotamus. I guess this explains why he doesn't need to stump up for extra leg-room.

This summer, at 8 months pregnant, I believe I saw Juanes at Filene's Basement. (You may remember I posted about it on DCUM.)
I really regret not saying something to him, and although I speak Spanish, was too star struck to formulate a sentence (in any language). I am huge fan.

13:40 - I used to watch him play at Madam's Organ a few times in college. I remember thinking he was short then, but lots of fun.
