US coronavirus cases top 10,000 and on the same or worse curve than Italy

It seems only logical this is helping to destroy the economy and serve Putin's interests. There is really no other logical explanation for such a failure.

Logic is not Trump's strong suit.

USA Total 2,779,953 +51,097 130,798 +676

Today we set a record. For the first time more than 50,000 new cases are reported. Death toll is still flat. The positive rate rose to 8.5%.

This is a massive failure by Trump.

Oh man the good old days

Some republicans have finally started wearing masks. Are they finally admitting this isn’t a hoax? It only took 130,000 people dying before they finally accepted reality over trump’s lies.

Well at least he's cleared that up

I assume he's referencing higher minority deaths here, forgetting how many poor white people live in red states.

It's time like these that I think the last 3.5 years have all been an extreme episode of Punk'd.

WTH?

I know. All those political satire movies...we're in a reality far more absurd than any of them now.

We can't make the cure worse than the problem......

This, from a WaPo writer.......a tragic story.

It would be nice if Trump, Pence and various Governors would listen to the public health experts so that lockdowns didn't become necessary again.

We know how to control this virus - almost every other industrial democracy has done it. But the GOP is a bunch of greedy science-deniers.

Unless everyone socially distances, wears masks and we allow contact tracing, the "problem" isn't going away.

It would have been a lot easier to mandate that everyone wears masks for 2 months beginning in February or even March, and we mostly would be on the other side of this like Europe and Asia are now.

Yes, it is tragic people are depressed and commit suicide, but if they were still working, the virus and death rates would be much worse. Pick your poison. Most other countries have handled this. Just not the ones in Russia's sphere of influence.

That is so funny! You think The Economist is left-wing and socialist! You are confusing the European interpretation of “liberal” with how “liberal”
is perceived in the US. The Economist (if you ever attempted to read it) is pro free trade, pro privatisation and free markets - not really socialist ideals, my dear.

Just because it has criticised Trump for being an idiot (which, let’s face it, he is) you dismiss it as left wing. I suggest you read it. It will make you MUCH better informed.

Oooooh ... I am so embarrassed for you.

Right, Trump said it is just increased testing. If we stopped testing the numbers will go down. Just like if we stop checking IDs at the border, illegal immigration will go down.

If we had a Federal plan, they could have prepared services for mental health. All this death could have TOTALLY be avoided. Conservatives are morons.

Omg! Agree with you! Someone has never read The Economist! Wow. Dumbest thing I have read on DCUM to date.

Why do you refuse to look at the evidence from virtually every other nation in the world (except Brazil, India, Russia) that you CAN have your cake and eat it to. Why do you willfully ignore real hard data?
