I believe the VDA team is an 02 team though and the Spirit team is mostly 03 with two 04s. Spirit won 1-0. |
| VDA 16s are better than their 17s |
| VDA 05 missed 2 PK’s and quite a few very good chances. They dominated the game from whistle to whistle. Hats off to Spirit VA keepers. Spirit’s goal came from a long free kick. VDA 06 dominated like 05 but actually scored a few goals. |
| I’m a VDA parent. We get better as we get younger. 05/06 completely dominated today and one team scored and the other did not and had some injuries and players out. Older teams have major GK issues. |
| Spirit 05 had injuries as well. Had players playing way out of position to learn some new things. Had groups with uneven talent trying to give everyone PT for developments sake. If anything neither team played a particular pretty brand of soccer. Both groups have talented individuals that could become something down the road. But that’s if you want an unbiased assessment. |
| That assessment does not seem unbiased. Anyone that was there saw how that game went. One team could not get across midfield and defended most of the time and one played an attractive style and struggled to score goals. |
| And yet 3 positional changes along with two personnel swaps in the last 10 minutes were enough to create multiple chances which lead to the goal. One can watch the game or just count goals. Again neither team played “the beautiful game”. But if I cared enough about my kids u14 ranking I’d be defensive about losing to a last place or damn near last DA team with one league win. Instead I choose to just watch the kids and be realistic. |
| Who cares? Preseason tournament with non-recruiting age groups. Delusional WSVA parents got a win against a good program. Does it really matter with 14 year olds? |
For reference, the age groups that matter are the older ones. |
LMAO does any of it really matter? Other than a handful, the lot of these kids won’t play D1 ball if in college at all. They’ll all end up living boring, everyday lives. None of it matters! |
Well, aren’t you a delight? |
| Yep. No point in playing or watching sports, ever. |
| Youth sports are nice to watch, if you have perspective. Most people in this thread and forum do not. Enjoy watching your kid play for their “elite” team no matter which one in this area. It will all end in a few years and no one will care which place their team finished. Outside of keeping them fit and teaching them good life lessons, there isn’t much more to it for 99% of them. Truth is tough to accept sometimes, but that’s just the reality. |
Like you. Which is why your on this board with nothing to say. |
|
VDA05.. so much defensiveness and “clarifying”. That free kick was on the penalty box arc/18 intersect and beautiful. If that’s “long” for you idk, I’d say thats a perfect distance to score from on a field.
As far as controlling of the game, neither team played exceptionally well or had majority possession. Both had similar chances with the exception of the 2 pks that were missed. With forum knowledge of both clubs, WVSA is pretty resilient given their lack of feeder clubs, club status issues, and coach staffing issues. Got to give those players credit where credit is due. |
