That sounds like to me that you'd be willing to drive if it was better level but I get your point now. It was more for OH than any club or league.

If the first time you're hearing your coach would be changed is a week ago or when that email went out, that's pretty shady to me.

I wouldn't say it was for OH, it was just because my kid wanted to play with her friends. But since the majority of them seem to want to just go back to GFR now we will be happy to also try out a new coach. Like I said, the main reason most of us left was to try to keep the team together and we'd been led to believe GFR was falling apart in some regard. That doesn't seem to be the case at all anymore.
Phony.

I agree, it turned out to be phony and the club was never in the distress some of us believed.

I've seen those girls play a lot and I don't think they're at any other level than where they were/are right now.

The 2013 team went 4-3-2 in NCLS
The 2012 team went 0-8-1 in NCLS

Am I missing something here?

Yes, what you're missing is that I am fine with my kid playing low level NCSL, just not driving to the LE fields for it. I already said I regretted leaving GFR but at the time it seemed like the only option for keeping my kids team together. Not everyone is chasing badges and some of us just want our kid to enjoy playing (somewhat) competitive soccer.

Same for us - we left to go with our team and OH. I'm not mad about the coach switch for next year but I don't want to be affiliated with another brand new club. We didn't leave GFR because we were unhappy there, we left because at the time of tryouts, there was too much uncertainty caused by the rogue board member and we wanted to keep our team together with our coach. So for next year, most likely back to GFR we go - happily.

I’ve been told the RBFC mascot will be making an appearance at the tryouts this weekend

It's really not. There were some issues that seem to have been resolved but overall the club is still competitive and has great coaching. Not sure what else you want.

Grass isn’t always greener somewhere else. Coaches leave for more $, to coach a different age group or to work with people they are friends with.

The difference for players and families is often not even noticeable, kids still get to play footy, be with friends and enjoy the sport. Each club has their own problems, you don’t see or hear them until you’re part of that club most often

Is anyone at tryouts? Wondering what kind of turnout they got.

There were people there but apparently no one wants to share details.

Very low numbers, NVA people there to show face. Nothing to see here or worry about about for local clubs. Money can’t buy everything

It sounds like one of those birthday parties where just one person shows up, which is worse than NO ONE showing up, because at least then your shame is a secret.
