Official Trump VP thread

The other weird thing about his wife being Hindu - not that I believe it but Catholics do - is that there is no way you would let your spouse, who you presume to love, risk burning in eternity by worshipping false gods. If you truly believed Catholicism was the only way to Heaven, you'd be getting her into your faith ASAP.

It would be one thing if she was Episcopalian or Lutheran. She worships completely different gods than Catholics. Multiple gods. It is completely invalid in the eyes of Rome.

I bet if you took every school shooter in the last 20 years, 90% of them grew up without a father.

-a liberal

Whose signature is ‘ a liberal’?

A liberal, obviously. You know, someone who voted Dem for four decades and voted for Clinton and Biden but has decided to vote for Trump this third go-round cause JD Vance is just so smart.

Don't vote for him if you can't tolerate his marriage to a Hindu. My list of reasons to not vote for him is long but it does include that one. But if that is it for you, so be it.

It does not include that one.

Girl, be so for real. He could be married to my Episcopalian sister and I wouldn't vote for him.

I'm not saying his marriage to a Hindu is a reason to not vote for him. I'm saying it's evidence that he's not serious about being Catholic and that his conversion was for electoral purposes.

Please try to keep up with the thread.

Yes he is slime. But if he wants impose Catholic views on everyone, it does not matter if he is real or fake Catholic. Trump does not care about the bible but he still uses it to try to wreck havoc.

I was thinking about how I know a guy like JD and it's crazy just how similar they are.

1. Both from Appalachia but didn't grow up quite as poor off as they let on. Maybe some addiction in the family but they weren't dirt poor.
2. Both lawyers with fancy degrees and impressive coastal professional credentials (big law and venture capital)
3. Both date (or married in JD's case) women of color weirdly enough
4. Both extremely intellectual and intelligent
5. Huge chip on their shoulder about elites.

Catholicism is a curious choice if he only recently converted. Many evangelicals are still strangely suspicious of Catholics, and there are a lot of rules and formality. Easier to be caught in gotcha moments.

All you speculating about his conversion being fake because his wife hasn't converted, do you realize that perhaps she has a mind of her own? He could wish and pray all he wants for him to convert but he can't force her and he isn't going to divorce her over it. Sometimes these things take time. Couples can and do end up in the same church eventually but everyone has their own timeline, if at all. You all have no idea what conversations go on in that family regarding religion.

Ah well. It's vile but JD has said some vile things himself. I don't feel too bad for Serena Vance having to field some vile comments.

The real (not)question is will Trump openly condemn such racist hate against his own team or ignore it and take the weak position? If I ever saw increasingly vocal public criticism about the race of one of my key employee’s children I would defend them fervently and conspicuously.

Having a chip on your shoulder about elites is a legitimately smart and intelligent position to take. Pretending to be working class when you have more elite credentials than even most white collar professionals is just phony. Phony Vance.

I don't agree with the political positions I have read that Vance has and I haven't really followed his political career, but I do not understand at all the angst against his book. I have read it twice after my spouse gave it to me because he thought I would resonate as I grew up under similar circumstances.

His book is not about hill people or people from Appalachia. It never made any of those claims. His book is about generational trauma and how the cycle is repeating itself among 3 generations and how he is trying to break it. It is about how hard it is to break free, the guilt, the struggle and how society punishes you, through no fault of your own, if you come from a family like that.

I was raised in an environment like this. I suffered then and I suffer now. To dismiss a person's experience of being physically abused, having a parent who has repeated substance abuse problems, for being guilted into not telling because "SECRETS", is wrong. Why are people twisting themselves into a pretzel to claim he's a fraud? You think this stuff doesn't legitimately happen, in every city in this country?
