DD of immigrants here...I would find it very odd if my DH with Mayflower ancestors, in any context including social media, referred to me as an immigrant.

What? There is zero evidence she ever claimed to be an immigrant herself or even, AFAIK, poor.
Her father is an engineer and university lecturer and her mother is a biologist and college provost. She’s never been poor. And, does he talk this way at the dinner table?
Wasn’t JD’s grandpa an engineer, his mom the no. 1 student in her large public high school, university educated nurse mom, step-dad who raised him and who’s surname he used through law school was also an engineer — but that hasn’t stopped JD from pretending to be hillbilly trailer trash to get into law school, get a book deal, get a movie deal, and become a U.S. Senator.
