I can’t imagine any good Palestinian person volunteering to go on cnn to defend the Hamas attack or engage in whataboutism to justify an act of terror. And cnn obviously won’t bring Hamas sympathizers on tv. And why should they?

This is indefensible.

I think you might want to distinguish the past human rights abuses, land grab, etc. from what Hamas just did. They kidnapped women and children. They slaughtered a German tourist. Separate the past from the present and get on the right side of history.

The past IS the present. The past is happening. It never stopped. Israel doesn't get to say "nothing we did up until this point matters."

Disagree.

Your line of thinking seemingly absolves Bin Laden and the 9/11 terrorists by placing shared responsibility (at best) on the US for prior action in the Middle East. And that’s obviously ridiculous, right?

Here’s what is going to happen: all the Free Palestine people in the US, Europe, and other civilized nations will realize the atrocities committed by Hamas against women and children simply can’t be justified. They’ll quietly retreat. The only people voicing support for Hamas and Palestine will be terrorists: Hezbollah, Taliban, and religious extremists who clearly aren’t defending human rights.

I am sorry to be the one to tell you but the world doesn't feel nearly as much outrage about this as you think.

Just wait until more videos come out. Have you seen the kidnapped civilians? The kids? The young girls?

People will be outraged.

They ARE seeing them, and they're NOT outraged. Every comment section I see under one of these videos is 90% pro-Hamas/anti-Israel.

Are they Arabs? Muslims?

Figures. It’s a numbers game and they are everywhere.

But they don’t wield power…which is why they resort to terror.

Well it's online so I don't know. But all the white people I know are anti-Israel.

Only the ones who watch msnbc

No, pretty much all of them. My peer group is highly educated, very progressive and very self-loathing, and completely buy into the notion that Israel is a white, colonialist, super rich apartheid country.

Your peers are being kind, based on the comments I am reading on the Jerusalem Post I’d call the Israeli Jews savages.

The “savages” are the ones who kidnapped a little boy, and brought him into Gaza. Imagine the night he is having, and hang your head in shame:

https://twitter.com/visegrad24/status/1710811394348552276?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1710811394348552276%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=

Don’t care. How many Palestinian boys have been kidnapped, tortured and killed by the IDF? Israel regularly kidnaps children and tortures them in military prisons. You should actually kill yourself for thinking anyone needs to care about dead Israeli settlers. Israelis only understand violence.

Hamas sent their brightest light to engage with us on DCUM tonight?

+1 And it shows the thinking of some of the DCUM posters who post here.

If you're just reading that person's posts now, let me tell you at least several posts where he called us "lying Jews" (maybe also filthy Jews or stinking Jews? I think there were other adjectives) have already been removed.

PP here. I was up late last night and did read them. I responded to none of them but will admit I was shocked (actually, more than shocked and horrified) at the thoughts and ideas I was reading. (Just fyi -- I'm an older DCUM poster, white, Christian living in a large southern city and have many Jewish friends who work in same school system with me).

No one said it did. But it shows Israel is not the blameless victim it makes itself out to be. Both sides are awful.

Oh stop with your idiotic “both sides” nonsense. People in this thread have been asking repeatedly for videos showing the same level of barbarism shown to the young Jewish women yesterday (and probably more coming out today). All you “both sides” people claim that these videos exist, that the Israelis sexually assault and degrade the corpses of young Palestinian women on the regular. But of course, the “both sides” people can’t provide any links because those videos don’t exist. The Israelis do not rape young Palestinian women, drag their corpse afterwards into the street, and desecrate the corpse. They don’t use sexual assault of women as a tool of war. This is on ONE side, and you look like a moron for not being able to see the plain truth. Use your head for once.

That is why when Israel goes into Gaza and takes out terrorists and civilians end up dead, these terrorists will respond with "See. We are the victims."

I guess if you live in the land of either/or, this is true.

Sinn Fein and the IRA waged a terror campaign. So did the Zionists in the Palestinian Mandate. They had legitimate grievances even though they did indefensible things.

The issue is that Palestinians have legitimate grievances, unsolvable without Israel's cooperation. And yet a faction of Palestinians, Hamas, is using terror to address them.

Here is a good backgrounder on Hamas: https://www.cfr.org/backgrounder/what-hamas if you care to understand who they are and what they think.

In case you are unable/unwilling to go beyond that, and you just want to know my "bias" to decide which camp I belong in, I have spent much time in Israel working with Israelis. I have incredible respect for what they have done, and the necessity of what they have done, to ensure the survival of the Jewish people. I have even worked with someone who went on to be, briefly, PM of Israel. And yet I also believe that Israel has put Palestinians in an untenable economic and political position, has violated their legitimate political rights, sometimes violates their human rights, and through their settlement policy continues to make peace more and more difficult by design. The essential problem within Israel is that unless it negotiates a peace, it ends up looking like Apartheid- where Palestinians are a majority but have no equal rights. I believe Palestinians and Israelis have both made mistakes that cost opportunities for a lasting peace, but I hope that they can get there once again. I detest Hamas, but I believe that Israel's efforts to undermine the rival Fatah party, a credible negotiating party for peace, directly resulted in the rise of Hamas.

So if your home and land was taken from you with no compensation, and then you were forced to flee to a neighboring state where you were locked in and couldn’t get out and had no job, you’d be cool with that? No biggie right?

Ask yourself why the many Arab nations haven’t stepped in to welcome their Muslim brothers and sisters into their countries. There’s a reason. Speaks volumes about Arabs and Muslims: Palestinians and the neighboring and farther flung Arab nations.

It’s a real shame the Middle East never evolved to a tolerant melting pot like the US. Had they evolved beyond religious extremism and ethnic divide the region would be safer and more prosperous.

Their rigid cultural norms have held them back. Too bad we can’t flip a switch and help them evolve.

I see this argument every now and then, that the neighboring nations must welcome palestinians because they practice the same religion.
Palestinians don’t all want to leave
Just because someone in another country has your religion doesn’t mean you owe them something

I think we all know that the palestinians are not going to disappear. Israel has to accept that

Expelling legal inhabitants into settlements just because they don’t practice your religion is not the way forward

Gaza has 500 dead and 2000 wounded. Electricity and supply of goods is halted
They will starve, but I do not know if they would be able to give much resistence anyway

I think you missed the point.

The point is this will never work because Hamas is a terrorist group whose mission is to destroy Israel and kill Jews. Hamas runs the show over there. They will never coexist peacefully. Never. Decades have proven this. Not gonna happen.

What’s the solution?

Assimilate them into Arab nations.

If America can assimilate Arabs, Africans, and seemingly all Spanish speaking people, then surely the many Arab nations can step up and do their part for the Palestinians.

And if they can’t, that speaks volumes.

Can you please recognize that people who want “death to Israel” can never live in or adjacent to Israel?

lol thanks for amplifying the Israeli cause: as much Palestinian land as possible with as few Palestinians as possible.

I am not that poster but Israelis engage in lots of horrible behavior towards Palestinians, including shooting kids.

Suggesting that Israel is blameless and Palestinians as a group are barbaric/subhuman is idiotic and disgraceful.

More than Three million Palestinians live in Jordan. Two-hundred ten thousand live in Lebanon. Other Palestinian refugees live in Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Syria, Libya and Kuwait. A hand few live in Iraq and Iraq and Egypt.
