The referent "police" does not appear in your sentence. That was poorly written. I think there's something else going here. This is what has been bugging me about this case. MAGAs fabricated suspicions are not intelligent questions or opinions. They are meant to stir up conspiracy theories and heartless memes about an elderly man attacked by a RWNJ intruder who has admitted he was after his wife. Everyone knows cops lie. They lie to protect connected people. Barring any visual evidence, there is no reason to take the police statement at face value. Officials can state anything they want, but visual evidence can poke holes in the story.

Take Paul's DUI for example. It was stated he was alone in the vehicle, but pictures show a deployed passenger airbag. The media avoided the implications like the plague and just regurgitated the official line.
