Not to sound trolling- but what are the best tips you’ve gotten along the way that have actually made a difference? Not taking “magic bullet” but more just a lifestyle change that you’ve stuck with. Mine are :
1. Flooding my body with water in the morning. I drink 24oz before I eat or drink anything else. 2. Every meal includes protein, healthy fat, fiber. No matter what. Even splurge meals. For example, I added a spinach and avocado salad to my pizza dinner last night. 3. I walk every night after dinner for 30 minutes. If it’s raining, I do a video workout. I’ve lost 12 pounds since January! |
| Brothy or vegetable purée based soups. Very filling. |
| Brush teeth immediately after meals and then drink only water. Those little sneaky snacks aren't as worth it if I tell myself I'll have to brush again. |
| More calories out than calories in |
| Run 1 hour a day. Drink only water. Cook from scratch with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat very few processed foods. |
|
1. Don’t deprive myself, so no forbidden foods, no letting myself get crazy hungry
2. Eat a protein and vegetable with each meal 3. Remember that hunger is the best sauce. 4. Don’t try to loose weight, go for weight maintenance. It’s such a weird paradox but that one was maybe the best advice I got. |
If I want junk food/a baked good, I have to make it myself. Cookies, French fries etc. I am lazy so this works well
|
| Never eat anything after dinner. |
| Chicken bouillon or broth to stop between meal snacking urges. |
| Not to up my calorie allotment just because I exercise. If I do that, especially if I do what fitbit tells me I can eat, I NEVER lose weight. I stay at my same calorie count, but if I am desperately hungry, I choose something filling and healthy. Not ice cream, but a hard boiled egg and cherry tomatoes, etc. So I don't just mindlessly fill myself with those extra calories. I work hard to make choices that nourish my body and satisfy my appetite. |

It sounds like what you are doing is working!
I have been doing IF (not taking in calories aside from coffee with a bit of milk until 1 pm, wrapping up by 7 pm) 5-6 days a week and running about 3 miles most days and have lost 15 lbs since December. Sustainability is the name of the game for me. 1-7 pm isn’t taxing; essentially I’ve cut out breakfast and evening snacking. I’ve tried day on/day off IF in the past, and it was great for quick weight loss but it wasn’t something I could sustain long term. |
| Cut alcohol. It makes the single biggest difference for me. Possibly because I want to snack after a few drinks. |
|
Don’t give up if you have a bad day or a bad weekend or a bad week. Sometimes you get off the horse and it feels like it’s pointless to hop back on. It’s not.
Also don’t eat after 7pm. And stopping drinking will help way more than you think. |
|
Don’t be full ever. Stay between hungry and eating just enough to not be hungry.
Work out smarter and harder. Walking, treadmills and ellipticals are a waste. Go crazy Rocky style. Run up and down bleachers, do sprints over and over with push up sets in between. Lift heavy weights and run laps in between sets. You should be borderline ready to puke after a workout. |

Agree w PP about never being full.
Make alcohol and dessert weekly treats you must leave the house to get. Prioritize getting 5 veg/fruits a day. |
