Best weight loss tip?

2. Eat a protein and vegetable with each meal

3. Remember that hunger is the best sauce.

4. Don’t try to loose weight, go for weight maintenance. It’s such a weird paradox but that one was maybe the best advice I got.

This is the most important tip on this whole thread.

I've started exercising twice a day- but shorter spurts. I start my day with some about 20 min of cardio (get my heart rate up up to 160ish) and then stretch. I aim to walk 8,000-12,000 steps during the day- which is strangely super easy on some days and impossible others...still figuring that out! At night, after dinner, I do a strength training workout that rotates between legs, arms, abs and full body.

I don't really focus on what I eat per se, but I am sticking to an 80-20 kind of plan in which 80% of my foods are whole foods.

Been doing this for a month and have lost a couple of pounds but also really feel toned and awesome! Clothes look so much better already and I like how I look in photos more.

I think tracking for me is most important too. I mindlessly take in a lot of calories with little snacks, a bite of leftover kids food etc.

How do you prepare a banana?

1. Flooding my body with water in the morning. I drink 24oz before I eat or drink anything else.

2. Every meal includes protein, healthy fat, fiber. No matter what. Even splurge meals. For example, I added a spinach and avocado salad to my pizza dinner last night.

3. I walk every night after dinner for 30 minutes. If it’s raining, I do a video workout.

I’ve lost 12 pounds since January!

I couldn't do this and sounds like too much water! The best advice I got ( and I have lost weight) is eat real food, less of it and get 150 minutes ( at least) of exercise.

These are a few things that work:
1. Buy now sugar added condiments, such as ketchup, etc., and buy no calories pancake syrup. Buy fake sugar.
2. Eat nutrient-dense, low-calorie foods
3. Buy meat that has fewer calories
4. Homemade popcorn with salt for a snack, fewer calories than any other popcorn this is.
5. Eat cabbage, a lot of cabbage
6. Read the labels for calories.
7. No nuts ( I can't just have a few)
8. always have frozen riced cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, peas, etc... in the freezer
9. No dairy nor substitutes for it (I have a dairy allergy and that is easy since I have to)
10. Fish, I eat a lot of salmon
11. Have a treat day, where I eat more and don't feel like I am doing something wrong.
12. Any day that you eat a bit more, don't feel guilty, just do better the next day.

A lot of this seems very old-fashioned. Fake sugar? Low-cal food? We’ve moved on from the 80s, Darlene.

Don’t get fat in the first place. It’s so hard to lose weight. Do whatever you can to not let it happen.

That's a you problem. Nuts in moderation are very good for you!

150 minutes A day? A week?

Knowing that going crazy with eating for a day or long weekend is not my norm. It’s ok to have times like that once and a while, then get back to my “normal” healthy eating. I don’t beat myself up, get dispirited, and give up like I used to. I know now it’s a cycle.
I was at my all time low last week, then had a graduation and birthday to celebrate. Which I did 😁
Now back to “normal” for me.

Obviously PP meant per week. 30 min times 5 is the recommended amount. Math is pretty simple, really.

There is a recent thread about someone who lost a bunch of weight during covid who worked out two hours plus per day. Sorry if you think the “obvious” answer is weekly but that’s pretty low on a weekly basis and not gonna amount to any weight loss.

The tip that has resonated with me the most - since I have young children - is: I am not a trash can.

I hate food waste and used to finish what was on my kids’ plates, and those handfuls of goldfish, cheese sticks, etc. can add up. No more finishing their waffles with syrup, rice, pasta, popsicles or whatever.

It’s actually really easy! I have a hydro flask that holds 24 oz. I fill with water and the juice of a lemon and down it over the course of about 30-45 min while I get dressed, so my make up, make kids lunches, etc
