ISL AA. As one who like to see disruption and upsets, I think we have enough information to say that this is not the year that Holy Child or Holton break into the top 4 in the ISL. Could Holy Child compete with Potomac toward the end of the season if they improve? Maybe, but I don't see any other possible wins for the "next two".

And for the Bullis booster, they appear to be slightly improved, but are not going to beat any of those 6 teams.

As for the the ISL A level, some speculated that Sidwell might step up. Then they lost to St. Mary's Ryken. Only remaining potential interesting development I see, is whether NCS can compete. They simply haven't played much lacrosse yet, but should be ready to take the ISL A on paper. If they handle Sidwell tomorrow, then the Holton Arms game next week might be worth watching.

I have a kid in ISL A and even still I'm not interested in bulletin board discussion about it.

But yet here you are on a forum about the ISL commenting on the thing you said you have no interest in - so edgy

1. Good Counsel: all alone in top-tier based on comparative play so far. Did not drop off as much as some expected after losing the 2025 class. After dominating Visi, pretty clear that only SSSAS and (maybe) SR can hang with them in the DC area.

Tier 2
2. SJC: clear number 2 but still a sizable gap down from Good Counsel. Can compete with 3 and 4 in ISL and should run the table (7-1 again) in the WCAC schedule.

Tier 3
3. PVI: Not going to compete with top 2 in WCAC or top 4 in ISL this year after losing senior leadership to Florida.

4. BI: Similar to last year, should beat everyone but top 3. Not competitive with ISL leaders and might even lose to Holy Child if they played this year. SMR could give them a game.

Tier 4
5. SMR: Some talented players, but not deep or well-rounded. Probably number 5, and likely to go 4-4 in conference, but giving up 20+ goals to SJC does not bode well for competing with 3 and 4.

How about DJO this year?

After they got blown out by SMR, I decided not to evaluate.

Good soccer team.

That’s too bad. They have a few talented players especially the Princeton commit

No way she got recruited because of DJO. Team isn't good.

Agree. Good coach, some strong players as you note. Just don't have the depth to compete at the upper level of the WCAC. Lost by 11 to SMR; SJC beat SMR by 8. Will win 3 games in conference, but may lose to an ISL A team this year.

That’s even worse than the Potomac score.
On Penn Charters website, it says that crushed St Andrews. Is that the st Andrews in MD or FL?

The St. Andrews in MD is in the lower division of the ISL. Would have no business being on the field with Penn Charter.

Pretty sure this is the St Andrews in Boca Raton, FL.
Sssas won against the Florida St Andrew’s and Potomac lost to them.
Did Holy Child play them too?

I'm guessing you know the answer, as it would have been quicker to check laxnumbers.com than type the question.

But yes, notable that Holy Child beat St. Andrews by a goal yesterday. Smaller margin than SSSAS, but a better result than Potomac, which lost by one in the early going without their full roster playing. I believe a PP suggested Holy Child might be able to give Potomac a game this year when they meet in a few weeks. That said, I believe Potomac will still be favored.

A. The transitive property doesn't always translate well in HS sports - just b/c Potomac lost to St Andrews and St. Andrews lost to HC, HC isn't necessarily better than Potomac. Potomac should be favored against HC - historical performance has to stand for something and Potomac hasn't lost to them in years.

B. No team is immune from injury and qualifying a result by concurrently mentioning that Potomac lost and that it didn't have it's full squad (b/c why else mention it) fails to acknowledge that every team plays games/seasons without key players. Don't have the injury report for every ISL team but SR, Visi, Potomac and HC have already played multiple games without starters due to injury and SSSAS has played w/out starters but don't believe that injury related.

C. If there's going to be a shuffle in the legacy ISL top 4 (SSSAS, SR, Potomac, Visi) Potomac appears most vulnerable (doesn't mean they'll fall out of the top 4). Bullis and EHS aren't moving out of the basement but Holton is improving and could have lightning strike and do something special against Potomac. We'll have to wait and see what HC brings to the table in a couple of weeks.
