It’s a little sad that you seem to think that the motivation behind the Trump administration’s attack on Harvard and higher ed in general is an attempt to level the admissions playing field for US citizen students. It’s about power and control and is right out of the authoritarian playbook and every dictator has done it before.

Also, if you knew the first thing about other countries and their universities, you would know that most in the world accept foreign students and many accept a whole bunch of them. And where did you get that 5% number for a cap for foreign students. Did you pull it out of the air when you claimed it was “normal” for “most schools”?

He totally pulled the 5% number out of thin air.

Fortunately, NYT has some data:
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/23/upshot/harvard-trump-international-students.html

Which countries allow foreign students to engage in protests?

Antisemitic protests, specifically.

Harvard is hiding the disciplinary records of antisemites. That is what this about.

Donnie and Barron were rejected from Harvard.

Obama and his daughter were admitted.

That’s what this is about. Another case of Trump trying to get back at people that hurt his precious feelings.

Wouldn’t surprise me, but there’s no proof of this.

Well his mini application to NYU was leaked when the school system was hacked. It was all over Reddit. He applied after the application deadline on a Wednesday and accepted the next day on a Thursday. Circumstantial evidence that he did not get into any of the universities he initially applied, and somebody phoned a friend at NYU. It happens for a lot of kids lucky enough to have parents with connections. Barron's situation would not have been unique.

It has to be that he didn't get in to Harvard and Columbia. Nothing else explains the obsession, and that explains it so well.

Trump probably thought being an ex-president meant his son would automatically get in.

Or maybe it has to do with the attacks on Jews.

Because Harvard and Columbia are the only 2 places in the country with protests in support of Palestine?

It just doesn't hold water -- neither the complaint nor the asks.
Columbia was prominently in the news, with city cops involved.
Harvard is the top university. If Trump can bring pain to Harvard, other universities will fall in line.

Who will want to do research at Harvard, unsure if their funding will dry up?
What foreign students will come, having to check and see if the TRO is still in place?

Harvard will probably have to dip in to their endowment for a few years until Democrats take back the executive branch.
It is probably not as high as stated if they have to start selling, but still tens of billions of dollars.

But all that just shows that it's a vendetta aimed at harming Harvard and other elite universities. The actions and threats are neither porportionate to nor relevant to issues of anti-semitism.

Proportionate response was for Harvard to comply with the given requests. Why issue foreign visas if it means bringing in Jew haters, and the university will not assist in revoking these visas?

The requests are overreach.

Stop trying to be dramatic talking about "Jew haters." Protesting Israel =\= hate.

Unfortunately, the only thing people are and will be hearing is that "antisemitism" is exponentially increasing or that Harvard or some other school is a hotspot for antisemitism and the goals of those who misuse this manufactured antisemitsm will be achieved. Zionists are great at throwing misleading or false headlines and narratives and getting them to stick.

I suppose it helps that NYU has programs specifically designed for autistic students. They describe a recent 35% rise in the number of neurodiverse students signing up for programs. https://meet.nyu.edu/life/campus-resources/an-nyu-just-for-you-spaces-and-resources-for-neurodiverse-students/

It's great at the minimum that a light has been shown on Harvard that they have 30% some say 27%, but it's probably more of foreign students. Imagine your children being able to go to Harvard with these folks were not part of the admission process. I guarantee you Americans are not happy about that. I need to take care of our own country first until acceptance rates get higher. There should be no international students or at least a cap of like 5% which are normal for most schools

Why do you think anyone is going to take you seriously when you use the term “Jew hater”? Grow up.

Keep mourning the collapse of your supremacy. You cannot call us “Jew-hater” to end discussion on the genocide in Palestine.

Those days are over. We’re done being silenced for your comfort.

From Trump’s Truth Social this morning:

Why isn’t Harvard saying that almost 31% of their students are from FOREIGN LANDS, and yet those countries, some not at all friendly to the United States, pay NOTHING toward their student’s education, nor do they ever intend to. Nobody told us that! We want to know who those foreign students are, a reasonable request since we give Harvard BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, but Harvard isn’t exactly forthcoming. We want those names and countries. Harvard has $52,000,000, use it, and stop asking for the Federal Government to continue GRANTING money to you!

Why does it matter who those students are? In fact, you already know who they are, they have student visas. Go find out. And if, by saying Harvard has $52,000,000 he’s referring to their endowment, he’s off by three orders of magnitude. It $52 billion. Finally, the government doesn’t grant money to Harvard, they pay Harvard for research, which hopefully benefits society and the world.

What a dope.

In the meantime, Harvard is offering free classes in an effort to educate the ignorant masses. They are definitely the good guys here.
