New Additions to Leagues Check Up (ECNL & GA)

The funny part about this Midwest United situation (if it happens) is that now all of a sudden, ECNL parents are “aware” that not ECNL clubs are elite

People are argueing about leagues on this thread because people like you get your info about youth soccer here.

Look back at threads from one year ago and you'll see there was much fewer GA is ascending type comments and much more ECNL is better type comments.

Now comments in favor of GA are becoming more and louder. Unfortunately this is an anonymous forum so you're going to get the back and forth it's just how things work. If you want to get away from it go your own research online.

Ya’ll are missing point here. Midwest and Mclean and any other club are not moving to GA because they think it’s better for their girls teams. It’s because it’s the only way they could get MLS Next for their boys teams. Nobody is saying GA is better. But it is at least good enough for clubs to leave ECNL because MLSN is worth it to them.

They were always aware not all ECNL clubs are elite. They just refused to admit it. But I agree that it is humorous watching the cult turn on clubs that defect to GA.

I don't agree with your assessment but using your logic more and more clubs will switch to MLSN/GA to get their boys in MLSN. If all the girls clubs are in GA at what point does GA become the preferred league for girls soccer independent of MLSN?

There is a tipping point. Not there yet. Seems like one should follow the competition vs chasing a vision, no? There does not appear to be an advantage for loyalty so why would you go GA now solely based on what may become vs playing the highest competition now and switching if and when the tipping point occurs?

Today is the day the real announcements begin!!!

Because, the door closes at some point. You think GA will be kind enough to let back in Nationals SC? Absolutley, not.

Ecnls issue is or was that they were limiting competition when they let clubs dictate who gets entry and who doesn’t. They have since softened up, but there are still some GA clubs that they should’ve allowed in.

The way it worked when DA started and when DA blew up is a group of the top clubs made the switch together. Initially the group went into DA. Then they left for ECNL as a group (rejecting the newly formed GA) when DA blew up.

You can look at the press releases when GA first started up. The initial intention was for GA to be like MLSN. When the group of top clubs went back to ECNLGA was forced to reevaluate their plans. What they chose to do is just copy everything ECNL does. Now GA and ECNL are nearly identical from a league/events perspective.

The magic sauce that allowed MLSN to be the top league for boys is it's alignment with MLS with homegrown players. On the girls side this is the last item to fall into place for GA. You can see that they're setting up for it.

To make sure I am tracking, you are saying that GAs master plan is for McLean and Loudoun to go GA? Don’t get me wrong, there is an obvious trend, but ECNL is still stronger for girls nationally. Maybe what you are saying is that GA in the DMA is now strong enough because it has hit that tipping point and local league play for GA is now as competitive, if not more, for the local area? Is that what you are trying to communicate?

Looks like NVA is slowly removing the ECNL logo from their stories/posts.

It may be time folks

Don't know how GA would act if the shoe was on the other foot and they were the gatekeepers vs the ones trying to break in.

If GA aligned with NWSL the way MLSN aligned with MLS they'd want as many feeder clubs and tiers of play as possible to feed the acadamies.

Sure whatever.

I'm just pointing out how things happened in the past. Because this is most likely how things will happen in the future. The big clubs work as a group to choose the league they play in. (Without a force like MLS putting their thumb on the scales with acadamies)

Totally agree! BP really throwing all this stuff out there just because he’s an ECNL hat now. The dude’s never even kicked a ball and just hangs out on a forum all day!
