They are different and should be treated that way.

Maybe I am wrong, but I just don't get WHY this is criteria.

MLSN and GA don't care if clubs also have ECNL.

ECNL won't let any of their teams be 2nd to MLSN or GA.

Multiple clubs have tried to have MLSN as their 1st team and ECNL has their second team. When this happens ECNL threatens to take or does take girls ECNL away.

Doesn’t SLSG & Surf have MLS Next & ECNL Boys? Maybe I am wrong, but SLSG I think has 2 girls ECNL teams, 2 girls Ecrl teams, mls next boys and ECNL boys

FC Delco Has girls ECNL and boys mls next. There have been talks in the past that ECNL was not happy about this. But I think certain clubs get exceptions.

They will allow this for the top programs only

Strikers (a founding ECNL member) in Socal had ECNL girls taken away when they went MLSN on the boys side in 2021.

There's several examples of the same happening at other clubs.

Haven't you ever wondered why clubs can have ECNL and NAL but not MLSN and ECNL,or ECNL and GA? Or why you can't be GA and ECRL?

2008 Boys won the MLS Next Championship beating Philadelphia Union on the way so that might have something to do with it.

GA is getting weaker by the season.

When is the GA going to offer a 2nd division?

They get placed into champions cup, they're always in finals, and they do well in showcases.

College coaches and recruiters go to GA events. This gives high levels of visability.

One thing I would expect to see more of is top GA clubs pushing for 2nd GA teams. If your club is top of GA there's 2 basic options. Change to ECNL which depending on the geographic might bring higher level competition. Or, ask GA for a second GA team which brings in more $$$ for the club without any risk. Most clubs would choose to field a 2nd GA team before switching leagues and potentially losing players.

Ukrainian Nationals?

The top level college coaches literally leave GA events in the post season once the ECNL post season starts.
Facts.

GA let's clubs choose where they want to play their second teams.

Nationally they have an association with DPL because they're both USSSA but that's just a convenience.

Technically a GA club would allow GA first teams and ECRL second teams. However ECNL won't allow this.

How will SYC do against the rest of the GA teams once they get into a rhythm after high school season?

As a college coach, we are going to less and less GA...it's just not economical. And, this year the playoffs schedules are crazy.....GA in Cali first then several days later ENCL starts. Will be the third year we don't attend GA. Not saying there aren't some worthy players, but not worth it compared to the numbers we can see at ECNL. And, this is the growing sentiment of many colleagues.
