Hi all,
I am dismayed. Despite the teachers having full access to vaccines, 2 of my kid’s middle school teachers still have opted to stay home when the kids are in person next week. How can APS justify this when a classroom full of kids are present? This is just so shameful. Teaching is an in perjob! The standards are just getting worse and worse in APS. |
I’m sorry this is not your business. If they are staying home they’ve either been given permission via the ADA process or have taken leave and are waiting for a sub to be found. |
You have absolutely no idea what their reasons are. But given how strict APS has been with virtual accommodations for teachers, it's safe to assume that any teacher being allowed to continue teaching virtually has a very good reason (and also may not be able to get the vaccine for underlying health reasons). |
Teaching concurrent at the secondary level is going to be so hard. We’re just trying to set it up now, but the workload and stress I’m under is over the top. The only thing that makes me feel better about juggling child care and everything else is not having judgement from people that have no idea what we actually do all day. |
All adults should be vaccinated by the end of May. I’m sorry a couple of teachers got one and you didn’t, but for the sake of those five teachers working with your child and likely about a hundred other students throughout the week, be thankful. |
Agree with Ozp. What possible medical reason could someone have who is vaccinated not to return to a hybrid model with PPE? There are none! Its 95 effective in preventing hospitalization and mortality from Covid. The kids were told today at WMS and were so disappointed. One tescher said “ it’s best for my family?” WTF? Are the teachers staying home for childcare? Why can’t the teachers pay for daycare like the rest of us. The message the WMS teachers are sending to the kids is just terrible; l don’t really care about you and your education to get back to work. |
How do you know those teachers were able to be vaccinated? |
Maybe they don’t have access to a suitable childcare arrangement. |
1) none of your f-ing business 2) maybe they had a reason they couldn’t get the vaccine. If they did it’s not your business 3) maybe they have an at risk family member 4) maybe they have a childcare issue they can’t resolve 5) maybe they are putting their family as a priority over your family. Good for them. 6) if they are taking leave they won’t get paid once a sub is found in which case all of you open school people will be happy because you said “quit if you don’t want to work” so now they are calling your bluff and you are panicking that some rando with an unrelated degree will be teaching precious Johnny Spanish. 7) IT’s NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS |
Power move by the teachers and the losers are the children.
Btw, no difficulty for a person in 1a to get a vaccine. So do not make excuses for the teachers. |
Interesting that you “agree with OP” since your writing style is the same. |
If my taxpayer dollars are paying for this lazy teacher’s salary and my child is not getting the education she deserves, lt is my business!
If parents don’t make their children’s education their business, what kind of parent would that be? |
Some people can’t get vaccinated due to medical contraindications. |
If she has applied for a leave of absence, she is doing your child a favor by continuing to teach (even from home) while APS finds a sub for him/her. Once they do, he/she won’t get paid so your “taxpayer dollars” won’t be going to him/her. And you’ll have some random sub who may have no knowledge or background in the subject matter “teaching” your kid. How is that better than the knowledgeable and experienced teacher working virtually? You’re about to find out. |
OMG, maybe they have underlying health conditions and could not be vaccinated. Ever thought of that?
