Apparently the surprise call did not snap her out of the psychosis, she kept on killing and then harmed herself. |
That’s right. Phone calls have no effect on psychotic states. |
Such a bizarre new detail. I think it cuts in favor of the prosecution (ie, she wasn’t really psychotic / drug intoxicated because she “snapped out of it” to take a call). But I could see the defense arguing that this actually shows how completely insane she was… no “sane” killer would stop the murder in progress to take a phone call. Just bonkers. I feel so bad for the husband. How creepy that he spoke to his wife in the midst of her killing his kids. I have no words except horrifying. |
You’re the weirdo if you’re anything but angry that three children are dead and their killer could get off on an insanity or “she was over medicated” defense. Some of you are arguing that we’re othering and blaming her bc we’re afraid of admitting mental illness exists, but you’re turning around and doing the same thing by pinning this on illness and meds when her actions scream cold blooded murderer. And not everyone thinks an average looking white lady is a “solid 7.” Stop projecting and get over yourself. |
After the arraignment I have a bit more sympathy for her than before. I think she was extremely anxious and obsessed with being perfect which was made worse by social media. You can see it in her postings - obsessing over a vein on her daughter’s nose that seems only cosmetic, etc. I think she couldn’t handle all the stress, worry and sacrifices of being a mother, especially a perfect one, and decided her kids were better off dead than living a not so perfect life. None of this is rational of course. I feel like the lawyer is really screwing up her case with the fake psychosis and over medication arguments which just don’t seem to have any merit. |
My friend had a post partum nervous breakdown at six months after weeks of insomnia triggered by baby sleep struggles. She tried to go on fmla but her boss forced her to quit instead with threatening action letters because she said she had ‘already taken too much maternity leave.’ This is the society we live in that tells moms they are too big a burden until some moms say ok i get it, I’m worthless, I will just kill my kids and myself. Which of you who are so disgusted or outraged at her has founght for universal maternity leave? Which of you has lobbied for safe affordable subsidized daycare? Or adequate (first world) maternal medical care? You are the disgusting ones, desperate to see a public lynching while this very minute there is an exhausted mom in the verge of crisis with no one to turn to. You are handmaid’s tale characters. Your righteousness is blasphemy. |
I am the pp who was in a 5 day program, I was afraid to be alone with my kids, etc. You're giving a long sermon but it doesn't apply. When I felt like that, I got help. And I was a stay at home mother, not a l&d nurse in one of the top hospitals. |

You think the Clancys would have qualified for "subsidized daycare?" Lindsay was ON LEAVE. She didn't kill her babies because she was worried about how they were going to pay the mortgage or put food on the table. YOU are the "disgusting one" to even bring these issues up, as if they pertain to her. |
Based on the arraignment it sounds like she was left alone with the children over significant amounts of time. Her husband was WFH but in an office in the basement. She also seemed to run errands, like take the kids to the doctor or to the park, without him. So him just leaving her alone for 20 min to go to CVS and get take out doesn’t seem like this big open window that she didn’t already have before. When he was working in the basement, it appears they interacted via text vs in person. She seemed to be the primary care giver. She could have done all the things she did while he was in the basement working.
It seems extremely premeditated and not just a snap. |
I agree with this. For the people who think she's just a cold-blooded killer, what is the theory for why she did this? Like did she really think her life would be better as a jailed murderer/in a mental institution? Even if she gets away with no incarceration, she will be notorious all over the country for the rest of her life for killing her children. People will either hate or pity her. Especially for someone who seemed to love being admired and thought of as a perfect instagram supermom, it just makes no sense. |
She tried to kill herself so I think she thought she'd be dead not in jail/mental institution. Of course you could argue that there are much more effective ways of killing yourself and that her method wasn't that likely to lead to death but she obviously wasn't thinking rationally or logically. She also probably ran out of time, as horrible as that is to say. She realized her husband would be home any minute so in her mind she had to act quickly to try and kill herself before he returned and she got desperate and jumped out a window. Maybe if she had had more time, she would've tried another method that was more likely to lead to her own death. |
People with NPD are able to hold it together until they don’t. It’s entirely possible LC has NPD and has been harboring twisted thoughts for years. She could have wished she could get rid of her kids for years, but was too insecure and attention seeking to do anything but present herself as perfect Insta mom who even chose to continue having kids! |
I'm a nurse, including working for many years in an ICU at Hopkins. I would have no idea how much Benadryl (or even morphine) I'd take if I wanted to kill myself. As in, I wouldn't even know what dose I'd start with. It's not exactly something you're taught in nursing school or on the job. |
This is actually a good point and could explain why she didn't kill herself effectively enough. While I don't think she had psychosis I do believe she wanted to and expected to die that day. I don't think planned to survive what she did. |
