You don't know that |
There is no chance an insanity defense will be successful in this case.
I think they will go with something like an Ambien murder defense or a sleep walking murder defense where they will say that due to the meds, she had no idea what she was doing. However in both those cases, the murderers are typically horrified when they wake up / come out of the drug haze and realize what they did. |
Well, she also intended to kill herself. |
How would those actions build her defense? If anything, they do the opposite, and prove forethought. |
The more I read, the less I understand how her husband can forgive her so completely. I cannot fathom it. I almost couldn’t look at the photo of her; she’s a monster. |
+100. I can only wonder what kind of family life people like PP have. It can’t be good. With all these new details, only the lowest of the low and personality disordered individuals could defend or empathize with this woman. I can’t even type her name, I’m so horrified and disgusted by her acts and that’s as it should be. Society needs to stop normalizing and excusing psychopathic behavior. |
The defense that she was psychotic will go like this:
She killed the first two children because she wanted to give more attention to the baby (she documented this in her written diary. Given the amount of planning, one wonders if this was on purpose) So why would she kill herself and the 8 month old? Clearly she had a psychotic break. That's how she's going to avoid the death penalty. |
This stuff revealed in the hearing is very disturbing. But I think people really want to reserve judgment because these murders are just so out of the norm. When Bryan Kohberger was arrested, that made sense - angry jealous stalker type. Once we found out about Chris Watts’ affair, that made sense - enraged husband who wanted a new life. (Though I personally believe he only meant to kill his wife, and only killed the kids because he was temporarily insane and thought they would be better off dead than without a mother). Here, this just doesn’t make sense. If Lindsay regretted having kids, why not just leave her family? Why risk life in prison by murdering them? And if she did decide that murder was the only way, why do it in this manner? She could’ve at least tried the Susan Smith route. Or a car accident, carbon monoxide poisoning, house fire, etc. Why kill them in a way that directly implicates her? And people on here are saying that she didn’t really intend to kill herself because she jumped out a window. But she’s paralyzed from the waist down, so I think she did actually want to die. She could’ve just taken a bottle of benedryl if she really want to “pretend”. It just doesn’t make sense! Either she’s the dumbest killer ever or she really was out of her mind. At any rate, some of y’all are way too angry with her. Like the pp who said she’s professionally unaccomplished. Way to crap on an entire group of l&d nurses! Are they all professionally unaccomplished?! And she’s not homely. She’s a solid 7, and an 8 in some of her pictures. Of course Ted Bundy was a total smoke show so that doesn’t mean anything… but why go there? Y’all are weird. |
We don’t have the death penalty in Mass. |
We don’t really know where he is at. He was lonely in shock the first few days. He had walked in to find his children dead and it would not have been a pleasant sight given how they were killed. Since then he may have gone through many stages of grief and emotion. His feelings about his wife may change many times over as he grieves and processes what she did. |
Agreed. So tragic that she sought intensive help and the meds not only didn't help but made her worse. Anyone who's taken even one of those drugs knows they can make you feel numb, dead inside, and disassociated from any feelings at all. I don't believe she was in her right mind at the time of the murders, but will wait for the forensic psychiatry and toxicology report. |
She’s a nurse. She would know just how lethal Benedryl is. You don’t have to take that much to die. Regardless I don’t think that people are going to have a lot of sympathy. Even if you are hearing voices you know it’s wrong to act. |
If one is INTNTIONALLY breaking the rules of their religion every day they are not PRACTICiNG. Just like if someone eat a bacon cheeseburger every single day, they are not a vegan. I'm sorry you are incapable of comprehension. |
She can be mentally ill AND evil. Both are possible.

Well, this question is likely to be the crux of the trial. I recommend anyone with an AMC+ subscription watch Too Close, a harrowing series about a woman who gradually breaks down and does the unthinkable. https://www.tvinsider.com/show/too-close/ |
