NYC mayor declares 'emergency' due to migrants

Denver is also cutting services in order to provide for migrants.

Denver will cut back hours at DMVs and recreational centers to ensure it can continue providing services for migrants, Mayor Mike Johnston said Friday.

Why it matters: The mayor's decision is a turning point for the city's management of the migrant crisis — which has cost more than $42 million to date — and it shows his administration is prioritizing helping new arrivals.

Details: Vehicle registration renewals will be moved online only and at kiosks, with DMVs locations closing on a rotating basis starting on March 4, and reducing hours at city recreational centers starting on Feb. 20.

Spring and summer programing at rec centers are expected to be reduced, with spring programming reduced by at least 25%.

"This is a plan for shared sacrifice," Johnston said Friday. "This is what good people to in hard situations as you try to manage a way to serve all of your values."

He called on residents not to blame migrants for the changes.

Is this a joke? I can't believe what I just read.

It's called "liberal speak." They have it down to an art.

We don't need the migrants. They're driving down labor prices and they're using up scarce resources. Idiot fringe liberal communities are showering them with benefits that under-served, tax paying citizens who've more than paid their dues to society aren't getting.

Sent them all back, whether their countries want them back or not. And submit an invoice to their governments for the cost of sustaining them while they were here. The bill won't be paid, but maybe it can be deducted from aid provided to these countries. Force their governments to take accountability for deliberately sending their jailbait to the U.S., and for facilitation the migrant flight out of their countries.

Make birth control education and information a necessity in the countries receiving U.S. aid. A big part of the problem is the poverty caused by over-population problems in these nations.

So you want the country who wants to take away women’s medical rights and ban birth control to educate other countries on ….. birth control?

Who, besides a weird and small fringe—wants to ban birth control in the US?

New abortion bill would also restrict contraceptives, IUDs, and create an abortion database

Definitely need developing countries to have more robust birth control. I’m not a huge fan of massive amounts of FA but I would definitely support programs to expand BC in developing/undeveloped countries.

Enough that it's a toxic hotbutton in Congress. Hate to break it to you but that so-called "weird and small fringe" has already had several victories.

Who should they blame?

Well, not Joe, for sure. It must be Donald Trump's fault.

The US government has restricted foreign aid funding for abortion services since 1973 (Helms Amendment)

The Helms Amendment to the Foreign Assistance Act, sometimes called simply the Helms Amendment,[1] is a 1973 amendment, passed by the U.S. Congress in the wake of the Roe v. Wade decision by the United States Supreme Court, to limit the use of US foreign assistance for abortion.[2][3]
Named after North Carolina senator Jesse Helms, the amendment states that "no foreign assistance funds may be used to pay for the performance of abortion as a method of family planning or to motivate or coerce any person to practice abortions."[4]

“OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma House Public Health Committee passed a bill Wednesday that its own author said needs major work before it is brought to a vote before the full House chamber.”

“… and he said after hearing committee members concerns on multiple sections, major changes to the bill would need to be made. He said he was open to addressing both Democratic and Republican concerns before the bill reaches the full House chamber next month.”

“ The committee said they trusted West would make fixes to his bill between the committee process and the full House chamber vote.”

Lmk when any state actually passes a bill that bans birth control.

I am guessing that some government employees are taking a mandatory pay cut? Reducing hours doesn't save money unless you also reduce the staffing.

Probably. Because of "shared sacrifice" or something like that.
I am betting the mayor isn't taking a pay cut.

So we're allowing gang members into our country. And then, when they commit crimes and get arrested, we're allowing them bail so they can walk our streets and commit more crimes.

This is utter madness. These thugs should be flown back to Venezuela ASAP to stand trial there - not here.
