My understanding is that Camilla’s grandchildren will be holding something over her while she is anointed. You would think that you could do some variation of that for Charles with his grandchildren/children perhaps with the parents or other family members holding the kids to do so. Idk. Does not seem crazy. I’d imagine the person who puts the crown on Charles head would be the Archbishop of Canterbury. |
Agree X 1000000 |
No one is bringing such small kids to such a solemn event. |
DP. No, it doesn’t seem crazy — but it does seem ill-advised. Charles has already made this a smaller coronation than previous ones. He’s done this by decreasing the number of British aristocrats — his most natural supporters, and including instead, representatives of foreign nations, and Camilla’s non-Royal, non-aristocratic grandkids. This potentially alienates at least some members of the aristocracy who would have expected prominent roles in all of this, while further alienating both those who revere Diana and those who find Charles’s behavior problematic, particularly in his role as Defender of the Faith. That’s over and above the way many view the execrable way that Charles has treated his mixed race grandchildren — who, I agree, are really too young to have any active role in the coronation, but who, in a healthier family, or even in a healthier APPEARING family, would probably have a planned moment or two adding cuteness to the proceedings along with the extended family on a balcony or some other symbolic setting. |
You’re incorrect. Prince Phillip, Elizabeth’s husband, was Prince Consort with respect to his British title; he was also a Prince of Greece in his own right though. |
| Lol I love the moms of DCUM sitting in their salve away offices while insulting the achievement of Kate who had the gumption and savvy to enter history itself and become the freaking Queen (Consort) of the UK and Commonwealth and one of the most affluent, well-liked and well known people on earth. |
| If Camilla’s non royal family participates then Harry and wife should participate. |
| I think the canopy tradition that Camilla is giving to her grandchildren traditionally belonged to duchesses. There are a bunch who aren’t part of the circus, some of whom are very wealthy and some who do more patronages and charity work than several of the working royals. I wonder if they were snubbed from the role in favor of Camilla’s pack because they snubbed Camilla. Supposedly, Queen Elizabeth detested Camilla. She might be persona non grata within aristocratic circles as well as many in the general public. |
By doing……what? |
Why would an American participate in a coronation? |
I always thought the Queen had much more in common with Camilla than Diana. They were both outdoorsy types and liked horses and hunting. |
Which “American”? The American married to the born in England Prince? Funny, I thought DCUM tended to applaud wealthy international families doing wealthy international family things. |
WTF are you talking about? Are you a monarchist? |
The Queen would not have made her Queen Consort if she detested Camilla. Camilla will be welcome in any place Charles is. |
hmm but I think Diana is from a better family than both the house of Windsor and whatever "honorable" camilla is descended from most recently. (im an "honorable'- it means your grandmother was titled and parent didn't bag a title and married down) The Spencers are true English aristocracy and she said so- in those ridiculous circles, they were really snobbish about the house of Hanover (queen Victoria and the described as being nothing better than a hausfrau while she was the most powerful head of state in the world) and laughed at prince Philip's title from Greece. I know it makes little sense to us but these people care about their racial lineage and teh age of their titles and all that and English aristocracy did look down upon their own royal family for being German since many of them are Norman which is in their mind superior. the whole thing is caught up in white supremacy and racism, it has to be.. its stupid and illogical and based on inherited privilege, they make up whatever nonsense to justify it. kind of like Boston Mayflower descendants think the are superior to Italians .. same thing really. |
