| DD is in her first year at a LAC that is known for its progressive politics. She hates the culture of everyone obsessed with social justice, and expecting else to be. But she’s not necessarily conservative. What are good schools to look into? She’s at a school ranked between 25-50 in USNews with a 3.4. She had a 3.7 in high school with a 31 act score. |
Forgot to explicitly say this, but she’s planning on transferring. |
| Has she sussed out good programs for her major? |
| Yes, what are her interests? I like the Jesuit universities and colleges. |
| The trio of Minnesota LACs seemed very balanced to us: St. Plaf, Macalester amd Carelton. With those stats, St. Olaf might be a nice fit. |
| Whitman? |
| Claremont-McKenna, Davidson, Holy Cross, Colgate |
Macalester and Carleton are SJW AF, St. Olaf only slightly less so. OP, have her check out Rhodes and Centre. They're about as middle of the road as can be, but they aren't known for being preppy like Sewanee, F&M, Bucknell, etc. |
|
Top 50 LACs that I would say are middle of the road:
Claremont McKenna Washington & Lee (more conservative) Davidson U of Richmond Bucknell Colgate Harvey Mudd College of the Holy Cross DePauw Sewanee |
Hahahahahahahahahaha no. Not Macalester and Carleton. I went to Mac and my dd goes to Carleton. They are as SJW as a school can come. St. Olaf slightly less so but still very SJW |
| Hamilton |
| Would she consider a bigger school or an urban school? I think progressive politics and SLAC culture are intertwined. |
| Christopher Newport University in Newport News. |
+1, I also think conservative LACs are inherently preppy. |
| Dennison or College of Wooster |
