Apparently some people prefer antisocial injustice.

No, some people recognize that some SJW tactics are antisocial. You can agree with the message and work for social justice, and also not want to be anywhere near some of the messengers whose behavior you find counterproductive to the cause.

This. It is a misconception that you have to be an "SJW" (shouting down anyone who disagrees with you, demanding your college cancel classes until it meets your demands, protesting a bakery they tried to protect themselves from your classmates' shoplifting, etc.) to care about social justice. I care deeply about social justice and working towards a more just society -- I just cringe at the tactics of say, the average Oberlin student, as a way to get there.

What are the tactics of an average Oberlin student? I went to Wesleyan and I would say that the average student is not what the stereotype is so I wonder if you are referring to a small portion of the Oberlin student body.

Possibly Lake Forest.
Certainly Claremont McKenna.
University of Dayton isn’t technically a LAC abut has that feel.

Actually, the student body is very very mixed. About 30% liberal, 30% conservative, 30% middle of the road.

This actually seems pretty conservative for a LAC if only 30% are liberal, especially compared to our MCPS high school.

Most schools are conservative compared to most MCPS high schools.

True. It just seems that if this breakdown is true (and I have no idea if it is) then the school leans more moderate-conservative than liberal. I would say it's actually a bit conservative but that depends what they mean by middle of the road (also, I find that middle of the road characterization unlikely since very few people are middle of the road at this point).

My DC graduated from Denison several years ago and that was my recollection of the breakdown.

Here is the current, self-reported breakdown under "Politics on Campus":

Catholic schools. They are into service projects, not protests. St Louis university, Marquette, Villanova, Dusquesne are good and not that preppy either.

This is good advice. Although many conservatives find the Jesuits too liberal, in practice there are a lot of conservatives who attend these schools for a religious education. PP is right on in that service projects and not performative protests are emphasized.

Vanillanova is textbook preppy.

OP, that describes almost every LAC in Virginia.
Except conservative usually means somewhat more preppy.

Washington and Lee
University of Richmond
William and Mary
Mary Baldwin
Hollins
Randolph Macon

OP said she wasn’t conservative though. Are these schools all conservative?

William and Mary is not conservative. It's a public university, though, so technically not a LAC. But I think it does have a bit of a LAC feel.

Hahahahahahahahahaha no. Not Macalester and Carleton. I went to Mac and my dd goes to Carleton. They are as SJW as a school can come. St. Olaf slightly less so but still very SJW

Agree. I went to Carleton and it's almost Oberlin level SJW.

As another Carleton alum, I agree, but it does depend on your major. If you stick to science, it's not quite as crazy. This is probably true of most LACs.

Hmm. My kid goes to Carleton and thinks that while the students overall are very liberal, people are quite respectful and thoughtful in their discussions and not aggressive or in your face. Mostly the kids are chill and nice and studying all the time.

Mine was the last comment and I agree. I was echoing the point that I wouldn't characterize Carleton as very balanced. Hopefully it still believes in freedom of thought and speech, but DC will find out once kids are allowed to socialize again.

Those are less super liberal than other LACs, but they’re preppy AF. Pick one, OP.

Claremont McKenna and Davidson aren’t.

What about Union, bruh?

Have you considered that your kid may need help? Like therapy? If they're feeling unable to befriend students who they identify as either preppy or SJW is it possible the problem lies within?
