| I think it’s about time uva boosters and hypers have their own section to engage in hype, misinformation and striving. Too many college threads get contaminated by them. |
|
Agree.
We could make an AAP/TJ/UVA forum to contain all of the nutters.
|
AAP already has its own section and TJ is limited to the aap section already. |
| I'd like to know why TJ 2020 enrolled approx. half as many students at UVA, WM, and VT vs. 2015. |
This was answered many times previously but TJ grads went to uva primarily due to instate tuitions but these grads have realized savings in tuition does not offset the relative low quality of UVA’s stem programs and relatively poor on campus recruiting despite the hype by some uva boosters. |
Should be pretty easy to add UVA to that - they all fit nicely under “VA Public Schools”. |
UVA is not in the same league as TJ. It will just feed the strivers (falsely) even more. |
| This thread and the posts herein illustrate it is not the boosters but the haters that are a problem. As a parent who’s child strived hard to secure admission - I just find all of this is in poor taste. Not that it should matter to the haters. Hope you can fill up on your diet of hate and step away for a few days. If not then keep it coming - if it boosts your self-esteem then so be it. |
UVA boosters ruin too many topics in the College and University Discussions by hijacking threads unrelated to UVA and by posting misinformation as to how great UVA is for almost any topics. A separate section will minimize or eliminate conflicts between UVA strivers and others calling them out. |
Yes, W&M people, Vatech people, UMD people, GWU people, GT people etc. do not engage in the activities that UVA people engage in that many posters find distasteful. |
| And the UVA detractors ruin just as many threads. God forbid anyone ask something about the school...you’d think that it’s the basement of colleges by reading this forum. |
A few years ago, there was an overly-enthusiastic UMD booster who had a unique posting style. But he was not nearly as obsessive or prolific as the UVA boosters. They try to make every thread in this forum about UVA. Even the recent engineering thread.
|
| You must be an envious, biitter parent who’s upset that their incredibly gifted entitled child didn’t get in. |
Your typical and totally unoriginal posting makes the OP's point. |
This comes up often on the forum. I'm also sure this has been addressed before but: Fact: the published destinations in the TJ student newspaper are self-reported and opt-in. Fact: Only 60% of the class of 2020 of 453 students chose to report their matriculation choices. Previous classes also roughly the same. Fact: NOBODY on the forum knows for certain how many kids from TJ enrolled at UVA in total or for that matter, at any other college. |
