UVA should be quarantined to isolated section to stop the contamination of crass and misinformation

It sure seems to me there could be quite a few depending on where you live, what you value, and what you want to do. For engineering, there are quite a few. Berkeley, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Michigan, Purdue, Texas, Wisconsin, UCLA, Maryland, etc. And Virginia Tech is much more complete and probably every bit as good of a value in state. If you are focusing in an area like computer science, you could say the same thing again.

For a more general education, it is perhaps a more limited set, but you could certainly make a case for schools like Berkeley, UCLA, Michigan, UNC, and William and Mary.

Vatech grads make more on average than UVA grads.

probably true since most stem oriented students go to VT instead of UVA, and stem careers are better paid...I went to uva engineering in the late 80s, current income around $250k/yr and 6mil net worth. It's has to do a lot with your chosen field.

I can think of several that not only match but clearly exceed: Berkeley, UCLA and Michigan. On top of that, graduates of those institutions are not known to have "relentless boosterism and snootiness". Matches: Texas, UNC, UIUC, Wisconsin, Washington all as good or better and their graduates are not known to display "relentless boosterism and snootiness ".

In fact, the PP is a classic example of this "relentless boosterism and snootiness" - "I don’t know of another college that can match UVA’s value for an in-state, full-pay student".

Major is generally more important than the college if you are just concerned with income. George Tech graduates make more than either VT or UVA grads, and that is again because of a higher percentage of STEM (engineers in particular) than either VT or UVA. The other, perhaps correlated factor, is that VT has a higher percentage of male graduates compared to UVA. Women college graduates make only 74% as much as men on average.
