What does it say about her though that she had to settle for a simpleton like him and couldn’t keep any of her smarter boyfriends around?

He's not a simpleton, his mind works differently. He's an athlete, but he plays very smart. It's a skill to read people, situations and adapt. There are many ways to be intelligent without being a literary genius.

Book smart is not the only smart.

+1 There are so many different types of intelligence. I'm dyslexic, and I'm sure I often come across as unintelligent and not well spoken or quick witted because of my processing delays. However, I'm a math wiz and have close to a photographic memory. My husband is also dyslexic, but is an extremely successful engineer. He's never read a book for pleasure in his life, but is so smart in other ways.

Also, maybe for once, she wants someone who is supportive, fun, and mentally healthy to be around. Joe and Matty both had mental health issues. I'd take someone who was positive and supportive over someone who is depressed and anxious any day regardless of how book smart or well read they are.
plus 1. You can tell that they laugh a lot together, also.

Omg you fanatics need to stop. Literally illiterate football players dominate the sport. We have eyes and ears. Stop trying to gaslight and spin. Travis is indeed dumber than a rock.

So I started reading this thread for fun and it's quite literally insane. I'd like Taylor Swift well enough. I'm not a super fan but I do really admire her..

But it's absolutely insane to me the idea of calling a 35 year old woman washed up, has been, spent. It's so misogynist I just can't even wrap my head around it.

Is it possible to just dislike an artist without being so deeply offensive to women who have worked hard to make such a spectacular career?

+1. Happens to all of these washed up singers when they’re spent creatively in their 30s - Whitney, Mariah, Madonna, Britney & Christina. It gets embarrassing in a hurry.

It’s not misogyny. Male pop singers are generally washed up by their mid 30s too. Creative prime is teens thru late 20s. Everyone knows this. Why do you think singers lie about their ages? It’s a young man/woman’s industry. Also why Swift is orbiting much younger and organically more popular girls like Carpenter, Rodrigo, and Eilish.

I suppose you could argue she's trying to be a mentor and bring them up with her sway.

And it's absolutely insane that the peak of creativity is in your 20s?! Have you heard of the Foo fighters, Elton john, madonna, prince, cher, the Killers, phish, Fleetwood mac, Billy joel, Beyonce, Whitney Houston, RHCP, etc etc.

I mean come I'm tired of typing on my phone so I'm done. But these are all artists and or bands who have done some of their best work much later in life. Just admit you hate Taylor Swift in particular. Or women I don't know. But you're not washed up creatively in your twenties.

what the actual f*** so it's not just misogyny apparently it's ageism too?

Tay is pumping out album after album but when has she last had a hit that truly got permaburned into the collective’s brains ala Miley and Flowers last year? Don’t say cruel summer. It’s not a super singable or memorable tune.

I hope the new album brings back 1989 vibes. But seeing Sabrina Carpenter, another milquetoast singer, my hopes are low.

I truly will never understand why people can't simply say, "eh, she's not for me" and move on. The level of hatred people have toward her is wild. I don't like a lot of artists' music. I don't spend energy on hating them. Just don't listen to it.

Every class you take,
When you buy cake,
When you try to shop,
When you try to bop,
Taylor’s playing there.

Can’t you see,
She hit ubiquity!
At a staff meeting
In the power point greeting,
She is everywhere.

I think the people who like Taylor Swift are people who have core memories associated with her music. Because if you don’t have memories like that, her music by itself isn’t that interesting.

Cruel summer is the one where she’s whining about being drunk after a bar and crying on the way home or something? So pathetic for someone to be her age singing such a song. 10 years too old to sing about such a thing.

Some for sure but not all. I never listened to Taylor until some friends had tickets to the eras tour and invited me. I loved it, and am now a big fan (and am older than her).

Anyways I found the podcast funny and charming. They seem so happy and well matched. She’s funny. It felt like watching a family share stories. At the end she gave him a hard time for doing his “I’m so pretty” schtick when pretending to not know a word he actually knew.

Based on lyrics in her songs, Taylor Swift views herself as a rebel, a cowboy, a renegade, a mastermind and someone who knows Aristotle, but the truth is she is not all that educated herself and probably is your typical fame-obsessed, fake-teeth and fake-boobs pop singer with an outsized talent for writing good lyrics.
The reason why more cerebral men like Jake and Matty left her might very well be that she is not that deep, original and interesting after all, in which case she and her current football beau are a good match.

I love that so many people who find her awful, "unlistenable," fake and ugly are willing to spend their own precious time writing on an internet thread specifically dedicated to her. If you watched/listened to the New Heights podcast you will understand that she does not care one iota about your feelings for her. But please, carry on wasting your time and energy.

To my fellow Swifities- we get to have fun and enjoy this simple pleasure in life. Can't wait for TS12 and all of the good things coming!

No way, I’d much rather my kid have the emotional intelligence to connect with people that Travis over the intelligence that you’ve been told makes you superior to other people. It’s got to be exhausting to just be a mean girl your whole life. What are you adding to society with such a negative outlook on others. Ugh
