Do you like Taylor Swift?

I don't hate her, and I couldn't tell you if I've ever even heard one of her songs - I tend to listen to my own playlists or classic rock stations on radio, so I don't think it's likely I know any of her music.

I do tend to find distasteful anything that is overhyped and wildly popular, so there is that. I've read about her donating very generously to her crew and to local entities where she puts on shows - I *do* like that, but given her wealth it *should* be done and by others disgustingly wealthy as well.

I'm grossed out by NFL in general; it was shoved down my throat as a child in the 70s/80s and since I left home I don't think I've watched an entire game intentionally - seen bits and pieces in sports bars while socializing with friends, but that's it. Disgusted by how they've handled CTE, by how they treated Kaepernick, by the fact that the whole NFL industry is so exploitative and that little boys who glorify it are subjecting themselves to seriously damaging brain injury in high school. NFL is such a mega monster I doubt it will ever go away, but it is one of the worst, not best, things about American culture. So, it's sad that she is basically promoting NFL via her romance with Kelce.

As to the romance itself - I mean, does anyone really think it will last? I AM NOT CRITICIZING Taylor Swift by saying this, but look at her track record of relationships - she has not been happy with anyone long term and I doubt very much Kelce is going to rise above the other men she's dated seriously. Her relationship record strikes me as that of a woman who won't take the sh*t that so many women do, who won't wallow in the grinding disappointment that so many serious relationships and marriages far too quickly become. That's to be admired, not criticized. She's very wealthy, she's got a very strong sense of herself, she doesn't need a man for happiness. Maybe she wants kids now? But I honestly will be surprised if it lasts, and that's okay, and her fans will all still love her like crazy even if she dumps the jock.

I think the romance was about promoting the tour while simultaneously bringing Gen Z into NFL fandom.. They want Gen Z to pay to stream games and buy NFL merch. What better way to do this than hook up a pop idol and one of the top players?

This is the last year of Travis Kelce's contract, and it is not expected to be renewed. Most players who were stars do not want to go and play for another team as a second stringer. So he will be looking to launch himself into entertainment.

I predict the "romance" will last until the spring when he will probably announcement his retirement. I think he'll get back with the ex girlfriend who keeps posting secret hints about him on social media.
