Do you like Taylor Swift?

Personality - I liked her a lot more before she started dating that annoying loud football player

Music - it's pleasant. Wouldn't seek it out but I don't skip when one of her songs comes on. I really like her Christmas Tree Farm song.

Yes, I discovered her back when I used to travel long distances in my car and listen to country radio. Thought she was very talented and underrated by many. Don't listen to her these days because I'm not driving and listening to the radio and I don't listen to music much anymore. Not surprised she is really popular with fans because she has always such an effort to reach out to them. But I do wonder what kind of pressure this puts on someone to continually have to "be that person." I don't envy her.

As a matter of preference, her music doesn't match my tastes. However, she seems like a nice enough person who has earned her success.

I used to be a huge fan. Not sure about now, for a number of reasons. The BL thing doesn’t endear me. But gosh, I used to really like her. I think the whole Travis thing is too much.

But I think her music ihits a cord with a lot of younger girls. But so does Billie Eilish’s music, and others.

I’ll give her props, but not as big of a fan as I used to be.

Respect her as a business woman. She makes smart decisions and isn’t afraid to speak up.

Neutral on her personality. She has a few friends that (by many accounts) are not very nice, but I’m old enough to understand that a celebrity’s public persona may not always match their private persona, and that the media gets a whole lot of stuff wrong on purpose for clicks. So basically, it’s none of my business.

This up until the personality part.
I was a casual listener until my daughter became a fan and then I took a deeper dive.
As someone over 50 it blows my mind how relatable her music is. While she isn’t the best vocalist in the world, I do love her voice. But the songwriting is key.

She’s an incredible business woman and I love how angry and uncomfortable that makes some men.

She has an incredible stage presence, but I love the times when she’s “off-script” and comes across as awkward and goofy as most of us can be at times. She seems to be really happy and unapologetically enjoying her life right now.

Obviously unless you actually know someone you can’t truly know their personality, but I’ve heard enough first hand accounts of her kindness that I believe she is a good person at heart.
Not saying she is perfect or saintly or anything like that…just that she generally means well and wants to do good in the world.

Her music is not my cup of a tea and I find her to be an attention whore. That being said, I admire that she came out for Harris and uses her celebrity for good.

I like her music better than her personality, but truly admire her discipline and success.

I love her music and have seen her in concert a few times. I don't really care about her personality. I tend to assume rich people are crazy, but I've never met her so I can't be sure.

Her family has great business sense.

She needs to pay more attention to melody and harmony and less attention to lyrics in her writing. Her earlier stuff was enjoyable when she was more produced.

I tire of the idea that the only way to express your femininity is through ice skating costumes and gowns.

She can’t dance.

She and her parents have done an amazing job with marketing and playing to her talents.

Odd take.
If she likes what she’s wearing that’s all that matters.

She’s well aware she’s not a dancer. She has an entire music video poking fun at herself/her dancing.

I admire her professionally (clearly a very hard working person who is very savvy about business and also very committed to her work). I find her personal brand off-putting -- it has a "we're the cool kids, you can't sit with us unless we say so" energy that I don't like.

I think some of her music is very good and the rest is unmemorable/boring. I wish she'd innovate more musically. She changes her sound subtly but mostly to respond to trends. That said, I love the song Antihero.

Of course. In my “odd” mind, what she enjoys isn’t all that matters because she has entire bookshelves full of books for young girls and she is contributing to the idea that to be a woman is to be in thigh- high boots, sparkly gowns and ice skating costumes.

All of which can contribute to young girls developing a sense that what they look like is more important than who they are. Taylor is open about the fact that she had/has an eating disorder, but she seems a bit clueless what contributed to it and how her image can help or hinder the growth of self esteem in young girls.

YMMV of course, but that is my “odd take.”

If she was a man and was writing negative break up songs about women she had relationships with, you'd hate her.
So hypocritical.
