I thought felons were not permitted to vote in Florida until after they had completed their sentences. I assumed that this would be true of primaries as well. And I further assumed that this applied to convicts awaiting sentencing.

How is this ok?

Although he has been found guilty, he is not actually a convicted felon until he is sentenced, which is currently delayed until September 11. He has another 4 weeks until he is officially a convicted felon. So, the law barring him from voting allows him to vote before the sentencing.
