So everyone paid $3000 for the season and for this team for spring they aren't playing league fees, using field space for games or practices, or paying for referees for any games, or for more than one tournament, and the coach isn't coaching......where did the money go? That's fraudulent.

No spring season is crazy. I know a lot of high school kids who are having a spring season.

I would be livid if I was a 2009B parent. Are these kids even going to come back after what this debacle?

This is across the board at all clubs currently. ECNL-R as a league does not have a spring season. Most top kids play HS, and the vast majority are not 8th graders. If your kid is a freshman and didnt make HS, it should beg to question if they really good enough to be on top team.

OK, so the club knew there would be no spring season. I am sure this was announced to parents prior to them accepting spots innthe team and paying for a year of soccer? Why are they charged the same fees when they aren't getting games or practices?

They should have put them in ncsl d1 or edp for the spring season, or scheduled
freestanding games against other teams.

We were never expressly told we would not have any games spring season. A parent with an older soccer player shared that he didn't think there would be. But Coach kept saying he was setting up scrimmages -- message April 1:
"I am currently working with Loudoun, VSA, Vienna, McClean and LMVSC on getting scrimmages for the spring sorted. They are like us and have a mix of freshmen and 8th graders, and hopefully this week we have some dates set!"
So yeah, even up to 17 days ago this is what we have been told.

McClean? lol. Sounds like a new organic burger from mickey d's.

You must be young! This was a thing McDonald's sold in the early 1990s. The McLean.

That’s the valor way. Scamming parents out of money for the last 3 years. Sad I am not surprised by this.

We have league games but our coach is bottom of the barrel and of course you never find this out until you pay. (by the way before people comment that’s what you get on a lower team. This is a gold team coach.)

My advice for parents is when you are at games, you start being more aware of the coaches your kids are playing against. See how they interact with their players. See how they interact with their parent and refs. Go over there and make a connection. if it is a club you can make work travel wise to go and attend practice. Put yourself out there to make connections with other clubs and get to know the coach. The club Overall doesn’t matter as much if the coach is fantastic. Unfortunately the fantastic coaches that Valor has are all leaving or in our case Coach younger teams.

If everyone is paying the same very inflated price, then all the teams should have good coaches! They should be passing on the inflated cost to coach pay to get good coaches. Even the rec level Valor teams should have good coaches.

That's the nature of most RL clubs around this area, especially for U15+. There's no league play during HS play, and clubs justify the cost because they say they will play in more showcases.

Yes, one would assume they would take that money and hire a good coach with it but that isn't what happens in reality.

We have a coach that has missed practices, games and he is still not fired? HOW? if i do not show up to my job i get let go. But valor does not hold their employees to any standard.
They are banking on parents not noticing and not caring because it is the spring season and that is always the shorter season.

After being in travel sports in this area for years with two kids it isn't about what your club can do for you but what your coach can. That is why many kids move to new clubs when the coaches move. Look at RQ team. I am sure he has players moving with im to SYC.

Its a 2009 team, half the kids will be 8th graders

That is bad planning on the coach and the manager.

The coach just didn't show up for a game? Who coached the game
Anonymous
The 09 team knew there was a significant amount of 8th graders and could have fielded a team. In fact, we were told the would be playing in EDP or NCSL since they don't have a spring season. NOTHING was ever done about it. We don't even bother coming anymore, they don't give a $hit, why should we.

Not sure about the other poster but our coach missed a game and we had another valor coach randomly show up on the field. So it looks like there was communication between the club and the coach but the parents were left in the dark as usual.

They need to hold their coaches accountable. If we miss a practice and or a game that is taken out on our kids but the coaches can be late and MIA and nothing happens. Makes no sense. Try explaining that to a kid. These kids are smart and they see through the BS too.

Once that payment clears that is all they care about.

Other 09 teams, even those in ECNL-R, are playing in EDP and NCSL. Sounds like you all were fed a bunch of BS.

to be fair, people get sick or have emergencies, so a one-off situation where the coach doesn't show up but another coach is there is OK.

If it happens more than once, I would start tow onder.

Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. Lots of 09 teams are playing this spring. High school and club.

Valor should credit the gold team families back some of the fees. This is ridiculous when the 2nd and 3rd team have full seasons and the top team is just there. BS
