Are single people in their thirties really the “undesirables”?

Do all the heathy well adjusted attractive people really just find themselves in marriages by their late twenties? All that are left are the weird losers?
Anonymous
No! Many highly educated people chose to marry later in life.

In 1950, the average age for women to marry was 20.

Now, we have things to accomplish first. It is fine. Just live your best life and you will likely attract a compatible person who is a good match.

No. My brother and SIL married in their 30's. It just took them until then to find each other. They're healthy, well adjusted and attractive.

My cousin and her husband didn’t marry until they were probably 37/38. They had a wonderful son and seem very happy.

So it happens!

Nope. I think there’s a big spectrum. I do think some of the most eligible people get married at 25, but there’s another big push in the 30s too. 25-35 is very normal

No. 40s to 50s, yes.

I think the bigger issue is late 30s and early 40s when many peers are occupied with very young children. Parents dont have time to socialize with childless peers for a period. Once their kids are bigger and sleeping, parents have more time for these friendships, if the friendships have survived that hiatus.

I think mid 20s-mid30s is the typical, but some outliers are normal too

Of course not!

LOL I swear this board is filled with people who locked themselves down at 19 and are now regretting their life choices at 32 with 3 toddlers and no peace.

All the powerful, successful women I know married in their 30s.

The ones I know married in their early 20s are now on second husbands and wondering why people aren't willing to splurge for their new wedding demands.

I have a friend who met her husband when she was 34 and he was in his early 40’s. They’re both wonderful people with advanced degrees and careers and a ton of life experiences. She was worried she’d never meet anyone but now they have two kids and, from the outside at least, a wonderful life. They’re so happy.

Not abnormal for this area, especially.

The only singles I know in their late thirties do have some issues.

+1. Oh, yes! In DC overall, marriages tend to be later, but if you read DCUM you're a barren hag or a carrier of autism-riddled sperm if you marry and procreate after like, 27. It's weird.
