Forget the hospital. Regardless of who is responsible, Israel is still vowing to destroy Hamas and doesn't care if they kills thousands of innocent people to do it. Not to mention decimating the tiny sliver of homeland that the occupied Palestinians were "granted." Living occupied is not living. And now they'll have no homes to return to anyway. Israel's behavior is abominable. |
From the Times of Israel. Nice objective source. |
Israel has repeatedly stated that it cares. They have repeatedly stated they are only targeting Hamas and have urged civilians to move south. It’s interesting that you don’t talk about Hamas impeding the ability of its civilians to move into safer areas and you don’t discuss Jordans and Egypt’s refusals to allow civilians to take refuge in their countries. What kind of response do you think would be appropriate for Israel to take against Hamas for the slaughter of at least 1300 people? Should Israel just say, “OK that was a really bad thing to do?” In all seriousness, how should Israel respond to this attack? |
Israel posted videos that were timed time stamped AFTER the actual attack on the hospital. When a NYT video journalist questioned Israel about the time stamp discrepancy, Israel deleted the videos. Please top speeding Israeli propaganda. |
And U.S president is standing next to them cheering this on, what won’t people sell for money, even their souls. |
For the two or three people who care, here is my current take on the bombing.
1) As of right now, it seems that almost everything that was first reported may have been wrong. It seems the hospital itself was not hit, the explosion was not as big as we thought, and I am not even sure of the casualty count. 2) Both sides have spread so much disinformation that I am not willing to believe either Israel or Hamas. For Israel's part, Netanyahu's digital media guy first bragged that Israel had killed many terrorists with the bombing and then removed the tweet. Official Israeli accounts published videos that were debunked and then removed. But, frankly, this could easily be explained by incompetence as easily as by malice. As the hundreds of thousands of Israelis who have been protesting have been trying to tell us, the Netanyahu government consists of some of the least capable people in the country. 3) It may just be me, but my understanding of the audio of the telephone call by Palestine Islamic Jihad members contradicts the videos that everyone is using to prove that the missile was from PIJ. The guys on the call say the rocket came from a cemetery behind the hospital but the videos appear — at least to me — to show rockets come from quite a ways away. So, even this evidence should be considered skeptically. 4) Biden has shown himself to get ahead of his skis with information that he announces. But, I have to think that he wouldn't comment on this without fairly solid information. As a result, I assume that the US intelligence assessment is that this was a misfired rocket. The result of this is that I am not completely sure what to think but as of this moment I'm leaning towards a rocket misfire. Sadly, facts are of little importance in this war. |
There are reports that an hour before the attack, Israel warned the hospital to evacuate. I don't know if this actually took place, but it's been reported by several hospitals. |
Actually, I have found their reporting to be very fair over the many years I have been reading it. |
Fair. I expect/want a full investigation in time. I would like as much humanitarian aid as possible to the victims of the blast (can any be moved out of Gaza to better medical care?). I think there is generally a hospital and old people "problem" in Gaza. It is in my mind unhelpful that so many regional leaders withdrew from the talks when "the world" should be looking at how to evacuate or insure safety for the vulnerable in Gaza who cannot move themselves. This is posturing. If this was an accident on either side, the responsible party should be named and feelings of rage, anger and despair are understandable. If it was negligent or deliberate by either side, any rules of warfare that were violated should be applied and there should be prosecutions. Anyone unwilling to hold Hamas to the same standard on this as Israel is not demonstrating real concern Palestinian people. They are Hamas, IMO. |
This I have not read anywhere. Where did you read those reports. I would also like to read them. |
“Israel bombed a hospital” people now be like “forget the hospital that Hamas bombed and the civilians, israel is still the a-hole for wiping out this militant, terrorist organization that murdered 1,400 Israelis and took 200 hostages.” |
Israel posted and later deleted videos because the time stamp did not match the actual event. |
The pictures alone suggest that it wasn't a JDAM from the sky. There is basically no evidence to suggest that events went as Hamas claimed. Also, the damage was in the adjacent parking lot, not the hospital itself. People can claim whatever they want, but the facts as presented speak for itself. |
The problem at this point is that the Hamas misinformation sparked a tinderbox that has now spilled to several other countries in the form of protests and attacks at different Embassys.
It is pretty hard to put the genie back in the bottle. |
