Just like her emotional-catatonic breakdown in the movie after the wedding. It was so unbelievable and stupid. |
They had to kill Big because Sam was too obvious. Plus, in my experience of it anyway, middle age is when death really becomes a major and regular part of life. Yeah, Big's death does clear the way for a Carrie-driven storyline about dating in your 50s, but losing the people we love the most, who we can't imagine our lives without, is also an all-too-real part of getting older. If they are serious about telling stories that are authentic to middle age, death of a spouse or close friend is about as real as it gets. I hope the writers keep Carrie in mourning, struggling with complex grief, for the entire season. On a separate note, I agree with the PPs who have been noting the extremely odd absence of pretty much any family to these ladies. Miranda's mom is dead, of course, and presumably Steve's is living in a home or dead now. But Charlotte? Carrie? You'd definitely expect to see women this age dealing with at least some sandwich generation issues. Every woman I know in this age group is having to balance kids and aging parents. It isn't pretty but there's plenty of dramedy to mine in those experiences. |
Carrie is a blithering ninny. |
You do them when someone isn't breathing, even if they have a pulse (which is hard to detect anyway). |
Always has been, age has not improved her. Great move, watching your husband drop dead and doing nothing. |
I"m just worried they're going to go in a direction where Carrie is broke(ish) and has to do ridiculous job things (like the preview where the young producer says she has to get her socials up). She is insanely wealthy. It will not be believable to have her have to scrape by (with her fabulous shoe and wardrobe, natch).
I'm also turned off by the possibility of Natasha re-entering the story. Where in the world is that going to go? I did mostly enjoy the two episodes - it felt more comfortable than I expected and I wanted to know more. I just hope they don't blow it (like the movies). These characters are beloved. Please don't make them entirely unlikeable and idiotic. |
Well this thread sure did blow up considering all of the people who swore they weren’t interested in the reboot! I just caught the first 2 episodes. Maybe my expectations were low, but I actually enjoyed it. They definitely surpassed the 2 movies (a low bar, I know) and possibly the tail end of Season 6. Kim Cattrall would have been a nice addition, but I wouldn’t say I missed Samantha’s character. I surprisingly found myself liking the new characters, especially Miranda’s professor. I’ll definitely be tuning in for the remaining episodes. Til next week

Sort of, but not if you know what you are doing. If you are trained in the field and can detect a regular pulse but the person is not breathing, you assist ventilation. CB is presumably a layperson and, if she had CPR training, it was as a layperson course -- in that case, you are correct. |
If this is going to get a 2nd season, I seriously hope SJP can make up with KC and they can bring her back. Aside from all the issues this reboot is having, it's seriously lacking without Samantha and how can you have a series (and two movies) centered around 4 friends and reboot it without the friendships intact? It's like Friends without Rachel or Seinfeld without Jerry. Get the band back together or leave it alone. |
I haven't watched this reboot but reading the comments...it reminds me of the direction Helen Fielding took the Bridget Jones series. Kills off Mr. Darcy and then Bridget gets involved with some youngster on Twitter or something (kind of like Carrie's podcast). |
I posted upthread that they would for sure have had a portable defribillator on hand with his medical history (only about 1k), and it would have instructed her whether to administer a shot or not. We also know they had nitroglycerin on hand, makes zero sense she didn’t run to get one. Or call 911, as umpteen people have stated. |
*shock |
^^any responsible spouse would have been prepared for this eventuality. |
