Rebecca saw the rain boots and said, “the park!” Then she ran outside and told Kate, “he went to the park!” I do think it’s possible to be sort of paralyzed with shock, but Rebecca did tell Kate where she was going before she took off. BTW I’m so glad you found your kid! That must have been terrifying. |
Yes. All of this. It just really rubbed me the wrong way and I really haven't liked Elijah ever since. |
Thank you. It's been over 10 years and yes, it was terrifying. Thankfully, very short lived. |
My prediction is that the Elijah romance falls apart (maybe he has a dark side we haven't seen) and that Kevin and Madison ultimately end up together. I think Elijah is written to be unlikable for a reason. |
Everyone is making assumptions that Kate sat on her ass on the couch while Rebecca went and Saved Jack! For all we know she ran back inside to grab Toby and they drove to the park which took an extra minute. We only saw 20 seconds after Rebecca got to him! |
Yes, they purposely seem to be giving us bad vibes. So if he is asking her because he feels she’s above his league, is that love? Will she realize that before she says yes? Or will she realize she’s not really in love with him? She is so in tuned to Kevin and his feelings and moods, she’s still in love with him. |
She just told Kevin she really loves Elijah and she's excited he's proposing. |
Sounded to me like she was trying to convince Kevin. |
I thought she was genuine, very sweet when she said it. But is Elijah a good guy or not? Not sure. |
I agree, I watched the clip someone posted and the background is ever so slightly different than Kevin's wood walls. Randall is less grey, but wearing same outfit, so that is a little weird. |
Yes, that's right. Maybe Kate did go get Toby at Gregory's then they drove, but I can't imagine he would have waited for anything at that point and would have run. But they didn't show us because a) time was limited and it wasn't essential to the plot, focus was on Rebecca and Jack and b) they didn't want to draw attention to the issue of Kate's physical challenges in that situation. |
Seriously, first the crock pot and then the Green Egg. Two appliance villains would have been super lazy writing. I like this episode and I thought the big fight between Toby and Kate was well acted and written. I felt the contempt, resentment and hurt from both of them. |
Agree that he has a really creepy vibe. The writers haven't done anything to mitigate that feeling, either. There haven't been any scenes where he's cute or tender with the twins or even with Madison. He's never been seen to show any kind of care or sensitivity toward her. Any interactions that could be characterized as a positive portrayal of their relationship are mostly him just trying to charm or engage her in an "see what smart or witty guy I am" kind of way. Mostly he just seems to be intent on staking his claim vis à vis Kevin. If he turned out to be a stalker, I'd be like, "Yup, saw that coming." |
I assumed this is what happened. Kate wasn't going to run all that way (although mothers do superhuman things when they're children are in danger!), and Toby had blood on his shirt from holding Jack so must have carried him home/held held him on the way to the hospital. Can I just say, also, how much I love Rebecca? She was wonderful in this scene. She's really fantastic in every single episode. I wonder what Mandy Moore will do when this series ends. I hope we don't have to wait too long to find out. |
I don't think we can automatically take this at face value. It could be her pride speaking after Kevin couldn't say he loved her. She could also be saying it to reassure Kevin that she was okay and he shouldn't feel guilty about not loving her. Both of those explanations would make perfect sense for her character and their relationship. |
