Trying in vain to find a kids desk for distance learning

Anonymous
Not sure this is the right forum... but anyone else having this issue? I can’t find ANYTHING for under $900 that is between 19-23” high for my kids that is decent looking. I might end up buying one of those junky adjustable desks they use in schools and then giving them away when they go back to school. Why is this so hard? I have a 5 year old and a 7 year old. There doesn’t appear to be anything between toddler furniture and adult furniture.
Please recommend something you like that isn’t IKEA — they only have 2 suitable and they are either too babyish or just too much the white junky furniture look). I don’t even need it to have storage, just a nice, simple wooden table 20” high and 20-25” deep would be great.

You might find something suitable if you expand your search terms. I ended up getting a “vanity table” that fits our needs. I also searched “writing table” and “activity table” and saw items that I would describe as kids’ desks.

Thanks, I actually have been looking for any kind of table. I will say, I’ve found plenty of high end designs that are beautiful but they cost upwards of $1500. Given that my kid just destroyed something else in his room, I’m not willing to buy him a beautiful piece of furniture, but I want something that isn’t a piece of garbage that makes the whole room feel gross.
Could you tell me how tall your vanity table is? Wouldn’t that still be 30” generally like my actual vanity in my room? Crate & Barrel used to have an adjustable table, but now it looks like the large one only is available.

I found a few options on the site The Tot and one other place but nothing seems to be shipping for between 4-8 weeks from now. Guess that’s what I get for waiting.

Lipper international makes one. 24" high. Maybe it's junky to you but anything under $500 will be junky at this stage. No one makes cheap solid wood furniture anymore.

this is out of stock but what i'm getting when my kid is older

Definitely check Wayfair, though most of their children's desks are sold out right now. I'm asking to be notified of a few that are expected to be back in stock September/October. I've already bought one from them, and it's way better than I expected for less than 250.

Thanks for the suggestion, PP. But this is the exact kind of piece I’m trying to avoid: dark, bulky, particleboard, and the height is adult-size.

OP here. What’d you find? I found some amazing vintage school desks on eBay, but nothing that doesn’t cost an additional $300 in shipping.

New poster here
Almost everything is sold out at Ikea

We were looking last weekend too and it seems everyone in the world is looking for a distance learning set up.
