These things are all sized for preschoolers. Your 5 yr old will fit for like 10 more minutes. |

OP, West Elm has some decent looking mid-century stuff. That said, it is sized for older kids/adults.

Why do you think that? He works at our 14" coffee table now and it's only a little too small. The table heights are all up to 28" 19.5" 24.5" 17" (sure, maybe will only last through 1st grade) |
Yeah, thanks. I would like a table that is no more than 24" high. |
Oh wait, i see it says mini. Will try to find the specs... |
Nope, nevermind, too big. |
| Christ on a cracker, OP. You're not going to get anything stylish for months. Just get the perfectly acceptable example upstream in grey and cover it with a throw when Better Homes and Gardens comes to do the photo shoot. |
LOL I suspect you're right. Off to the school outlet store. |
DP. I bought a version of this too! I haven't gotten it yet, it's backordered (I'm sure so many people are looking for desks now), but I think it will work well for my first grader. |

We got this one in the spring. It isn't going to be passed down for generations, but just fine. |
| What about the Container store? Use ELfa, put it up on wall, adjustable for years. Ugly but relatively sleek. |

If you don’t want it to look junky, you have to pay real money. Did you try Room & Board?
If you want some perfect home school set up for your Instagram feed, spend the money. If not, just get a freaking desk. Your kid does not care if it’s fiberboard. My kid had an IKEA pahl desk and it looks clean and modern. |

17" is a no. Your kids would need a 12" chair (5 yr old)and 14" chair (7 yr old), and then table heights of 20" and 22" OR DESK heights (because of internal storage) of 22" and 24" I would not waste money on preschool sized furniture. We could very well be doing this next year too. |
| And with foot rests, you can do higher desks and chairs. |
| Maybe craigslist? Or buy an ikea desk top with separate adjustable legs? They have some that adjust to just under 24 inches. Check out olov leg. |
