| At Bowser's press conference today in which she announced that dcps would be virtual, she said that she hoped that private schools would make the same choice. For schools that had previously announced in person or hybrid, do you think this will make them change their mind? |
| Hope not. |
There's no doubt. This gives them cover. |
| Cover? she just "hopes" there is no mandatory order. I just hopes the privates will open. |
Any schools that goes against her wish is stupid. And I am dying for them to open--this was the nail in the coffin. And it is not even based on data. Pathetic. |

No--she hopes privates will follow DCPS. It is over for any school that wants to be a good community member unless she changes tack. |
| We're f*cked. Privates can't open at this point. Our school announced hybrid a few weeks ago but that ain't happening now. |
Maybe the DC Mayor should advocate for stopping the spread of infection to save lives: ban indoor dining in DC as this is a NO MASK activity that spreads covid Work together with VA & MD Gov to shut down the bars and packed indoor dining with NO MASK at the Beach Towns where Covid is raging And show that she puts Education above $$$$ and campaign contributions Yes, hundreds will die, and that could have been prevented. But, not by closing schools that have been closed since March Close the Damn Bars and Indoor Dining ( You know, the group gathering of hundreds without a mask in sight ) |
| And gyms. What in the heavenly (something) is she thinking? |
How about enforce the mask law in DC? There was a large concert gathering (video showed almost no masks) and cops refused to enforce/fine, although law says 1000 fine. https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/coronavirus-in-dc-maryland-virginia-what-to-know-on-july-28/2374470/ |
| LOL, you private school parents who thought they would open must feel stupid now! We are all on the same sinking boat. |
I don't feel stupid at all, but go ahead gloat all you want. Do I feel frustrated? Sure, don't you? But I did not sign my contract bc of an expectation of in person learning. A hope? Yes, just like you likely hoped for it. |
And really---you should not be gloating at all. Your kid is not going to have a great experience with months of online learning in public. This is bad for all kids. I was actively rooting for hybrid for DCPS, where my kids used to go. |
| Privates can still open, it will be their choice. Some may... |
