This has very little to do with actual policies or where he falls on the ideological spectrum, and everything to do with the fact he seems to have cracked the code for opposing Trump.

+1 politics as entertainment is how it is going to be for a while. This is going to sound harsh, but most Americans are easily influenced and maybe not the deepest of thinkers. Expect several administrations to be shiny spokespeople presidents with competent cabinets doing the real work.

Politics as "entertainment" will last until a majority of Americans are truly feeling day to day impacts of terrible leadership in DC. We aren't far from this and it won't be long before the American people finally wake up and fire the GOP and Dem Parties.

AOC has a degree in international relations and economics from Boston University.

People act like she’s a lightweight, but she actually attended the same institutions as folks like Howard Stern and Tipper Gore

Oh, shut up. PP said she was a “bartender”. You’re moving the goalpost to troll. Now you’re putting her down because she isn’t a nepo admit to an “elitist” school like so many politicans.

I think you mean “elite” schools.

I don’t.

They are elite institutions because they are hard to get into. They are elitist because they primarily serve the super wealthy.

BU is not especially hard to get into

I disagree that we need a moderate. Republicans cast all democrats, moderates or not, as crazy leftist dems. Since moderates are never seen as moderates anyway, let’s put up a candidate that actually IS progressive.

Some Dems claim AOC, Whitmer, and Newsome are moderates, some do not. This is a problem.

Whitmer and Newsom are moderates.
AOC is left of center, but not by much.

We are under no obligation to take the far right’s viewpoints about them into account.

You missed the sarcasm in one of the posts and therefore missed the whole point of this response in the exchange.

The fact that Beshear is still flogging trans "rights," i.e., on board with rebranding mentally ill men's fetishes as a civil rights issue, shows a lack of basic decency, critical thinking, and political instincts. He'll never get my vote as a Democrat. The party needs to stop enabling the Pritzkers, Martin Rothblatt, and the Strykers to force this corrosive degenerate agenda on the nation.

Looks like it may be Newsom, Andy Beshear, Pritzker....

I also like the idea of Senator Murphy from Connecticut to the list

Ahhh ....well, be sure and run those moderate and slightly left of center politicians in the next presidential election!

And imagine how wide the gulf would be if Vance ran against AOC, Kamala, or Buttigieg. He’s be winning men by 40+ points.

Dems underestimate Vance at their own peril. He is much smarter and is a much better debater and orator. He’s MAGAs white working class Obama. He will torch the Dems in the Blue Wall and even in places like Georgia and NC. If he picks a woman like Tulsi or Anna Paulina Luna as his VP it’s going to be rough for Dems to compete.
