Any word on the new NVSL rules for the summer?

Why does nvsl know better than the state of Virginia, which just says people should decide for themselves whether to wear a mask??

Oh my god, our B meets are six hours long and so hot! Making kids wear masks outdoors for six hours? What the hell is wrong with these people? We do summer swim for fun not torture.

The NVSL has NO say over B meets. The NVSL isn’t saying anything about B meets.

Think about kids swimming 25 in a b meet - and making them swim back to the other end to get their masks. There are a lot of kids swimming who are just barely making it across the pool. They are going to be struggling back across (after racing). this is going to add significant time to b meets for no apparent game. (and the idea that a marshall will be assigned to carry them in plastic bags around to the other end??? that is just not realistic or wise.
There are NO documented cases of outdoor transmission of COVID. The incidence of covid is approaching zero in Northern Virginia.

B meets and practices are not “NVSL sanctioned events”. The NVSL has nothing to do with either.

You are wrong
)" NVSL sanctioned and sponsored events have been defined to include all swim-related events, to include A meets, B
meets, practices, and all NVSL Division-wide and League-wide meets. B Meets are defined as those meets, other than the
meets listed on the NVSL website (i.e., A Meets, Divisional Relay Carnivals, Individual Championship meets, ASR and IAS),
and are meets in which 100 percent of the competitors are registered members of NVSL member swim teams. These
events therefore fall within the scope of the NVSL operations and its insurances."

For insurance yes. As a swim team the NVSL insurance is covering it as a secondary (or tertiary coverage?) but the NVSL does not and is not saying anything to dictate how practices and B meets are operated.

These are going to be some LOOOOONG B meets.

Our team reps support the NVSL rule and don't want separate rules for B meets. They don't want to confuse anyone. Also don't want to confuse a young child who might see an older vaccinated swimmer and "not understand" why they don't have to wear a mask.

Really? Kids know what is going on. Kids know different rules for different ages.

FWIW, when MCSL put the same rule to a vote a week or so ago, it was voted down. So you guys still have hope - I can’t imagine Fairfax is more mask crazy than MoCo. Of course some pools will still require masks, which visiting teams must respect.

Is there going to be a vote?!

good to know about MCSL

So is NVSL going to vote on this masking of adults and athletes? Who votes? Is the vote done?

Anyone on the inside of NVSL board, please share.
Thanks

Why should the young children have to wear masks? Outdoors? In an area with incredibly low COVID cases? Everyone has lost their damn mind.

I’m not on the inside of the NVSL board, but there will be a vote on Tuesday by the executive board (directors, division coordinators) regarding the wording someone posted earlier.

Not everyone in swim is “wear mask “ forever and I know people who might say no to their kid swimming if forced to wear a mask.

I can’t imagine many families with swimmers who swim A meets are going to decline to participate over wearing a mask for a couple of hours.

If I know people still wearing masks while vaccinated, then yes.

Masks are still required many places, and general mandates were just dropped. Continuing to mask right now doesn’t mean that someone intends to “forever.”
