Girls Tryouts

And Stars/Capital and Pride certainly do tie and beat Heros, M&D, and MD United their fair share. You obviously haven’t really followed girls lax in the DMV for long.

Not sure what you follow but Coppermine 28 is arguably the best team in the country at the 28 level. They blew threw the top LI YJ team, Heros Green, MDU and have beaten M&D several times by a lot. The 27 team is strong as well. You may want to see some updated results.

Stars/Capital hasn't beaten Pride recently let alone trying to beat Heros, M&D etc. Again, not sure what you are watching, but Stars hasn't beaten anyone worthwhile in a long time. In NGLL they had 1 playoff team from the 27 B bracket and that was it. The Capital/Stars name is not what it used to be. Pride is slightly better but still not beating the top teams. NGLL they didn't have any teams in the championship games and at the HS level they are still growing.

2028s are not even in middle school yet, completely meaningless. The older teams are not good and mostly lose— 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025. They tend to lose talent as high school approaches as they have a poor record with college recruiting.

I’m in Baltimore by the way. If your daughter is serious about lacrosse, she needs to move to one of the more established clubs— M&D, Skywalkers, TLC, MD United or Hero’s. Those are the clubs with good track records for recruiting, not Coppermine. Some of those don’t even have 2028 teams yet.

No one said Coppermine has the same "track" record as the "big 3 MD" clubs, but rather than the 28 Coppermine team right now is the best in the area. All of the clubs you mention have 28 teams and some very good ones, especially M&D, MDU, Hero's etc. Every club mentioned has a 28 team and even younger and some are very good, so not sure what you are watching if you didn't even know those clubs all have teams down to the 2030 level.

Also would NOT put TLC and MD United for upper ages in same category as other MD teams mentioned.

Doesn’t mean there is not a good team or two; but not as consistent and not sure would drive a great distance for those (if you are in DMV).

I just feel like “smart” not big clubs would hold a tryout after them - late in July/ after
Mid Atlantic - to pick up good quality players who maybe didn’t quite make it onto an already established strong team/club. Clubs have not let the big clubs drive the tryout schedule (as one poster commented) and tried some other/go early strategic approach that likely doesn’t benefit them or the players/girls; especially in later middle school years.

With respect to recruiting, I believe all 5 clubs have similar results with m and d a step above. College coaches don’t care so much about team results,

Clearly you are excited about your kid’s club, but results prior to the girls going through puberty aren’t puberty. My dd is a 2023 and I can say with confidence the best girls will leave for more established clubs, that’s generally what happens with all Coppermine teams Across sports. They are good at u little as but not when it actually matters.

Sorry, meant to say, results prior to puberty aren’t predictive. Take your daughter to a m and d tryout, the difference in Coaching and professionalism is quite noticeable.

Of course it has meaning. Why do you assume that because a club team is good with juniors in HS, that automatically means it stays that way?

Yes because kids from the lower tier teams that have potential will move to the known clubs. New clubs pop up all the time but by high school the best girls have all filtered to the clubs where they have the best chance Of being recruited. Coppermine doesn’t even get invited to the top tournaments at the high school level.

But hey, you probably know more than me because your 11 year olds team had a good summer so far.

Clearly you are focused on your 2023 daughter (big summer for her), which is great, but if you aren't paying attention to what Coppermine is doing at the middle school and lower level, I can't help you. Goaliesmith coaching, top facilities,
Very good 27 team, top 28 team in nation. #1 seed in NGLL 29 team, Playoff team at 2030.

Hero's M&D will always be great, but yes, Coppermine is a force and will build off that at HS level in a few years.

(My daughter is not on Coppermine BTW, not geographical desirable for us)

Not a chance. By the way, you know what club had the best team in Baltimore when my daughter was a fifth grader , C2 lacrosse. Two years later, c2 didn’t even have a 2023 tram, they all left for m&d, Skywalkers, TLC, etc. .

Also, the facilities are just ok. Coppermine also pushes its won teams to the least desirable fields so that it can make more money by using them for camps or renting to outside clubs.

C2 is ran by folks that are out of Arizona, of course they wouldn't sustain that.

"Facilities are just ok". What club has anything close to Coppermine? Which is multiple indoor facilitates, multiple turf fields outdoors?

I guess time will tell. Again, zero reason why Coppermine can't be a top five club in the state in most age groups.

—parent of a 2023

What club also has club soccer, club basketball, camps, lessons and outside group rentals competing for its limited field space?

Yet those "facilities are just ok"..right

Have first hand experience with this. Coppermine will squeeze multiple teams on one turf field or change practice location at last minute to a field 20 minutes away because they got a last minute field rental. All about the dollars for them and lacrosse is just another small cog in the large machine.
