It may be with MC tryouts SO early that certain strong players known to the program could have had an eval. Obviously coaches have also seen opposing team players throughout the NGLL season. Plus, last year's "tryout season" was really strange with covid - I know some may have been offered previously, but decided not to switch going into this year (no one even really knew late last summer what was going to happen) . . . but could have had a standing offer of sorts. It happens. |
I meant over the last few years. I know a goalie went a couple of years ago and I am hearing a few more intend on trying out. My point was simply to figure out which made more sense logistically. |
| Hero’s practice locations aren’t that bad to get to if you are near Conn Ave and you can take a couple routes. Maybe from west Bethesda or Potomac Pride could be easier but really at the mercy of the beltway. |
What are some of Hero's practice fields? They seem to be Ellicott City based. |
Western Regional, Salandra Farm, Glenelg High School, Glenelg Country... |
| DD tried out last week and her number was called to scrimmage with A team (one of 5 girls). I am assuming this increases her chances of being offered a spot? We’re new to this. |
For what club/team? Usually after tryouts you are offered a spot on the A or B team. Sometimes you will go play with the team before officially being gone the team or trying put for the next season but all depends on the club. |
No necessarily. May be that they know the girls Not called from other looks. And just wanted to see your DD better |
Agree on first sentiment - they may have just called over the new people trying out. With them having tryouts so early - the vast majority of clubs in DMV area aren't for another month - there is a chance this could be a longer wait for results. (Still confused, personally, on why they had tryouts this early...) |
OP of this thread here. This is her second season with the club. She was on B team this past season, so, they do know her. There were a few others they called from the B team to scrimmage with A team. This was at the end of the tryout (after all the drills). This didn't happen the first time she tried out last year. |
Live in MoCo why not stay in MoCo? Club intent from the get go was to give a place for local girls to develop. |
I would love to but where would they go? |
Keep us posted. But the B team coach and A team coach know who is moving up. I know you said you are new to this - tryouts don’t matter for this situation. Reality. |
Exactly. It is one thing if you are new to a club. Another if you have been there. |
MC Elite. MS program develops girls to be impact players in HS. Great coaches. Was founded to elevate lax in MoCo. Most clubs were all founded to support area/even certain high schools, that is why the traveling out of county is baffling. Great recruiting history, but like other posters said, club is only one piece of the puzzle. |
