Games canceled due to gas shortage?

I saw the writing the wall this weekend. Got a full tank on Sunday. I thought there would be much longer lines but no line. I guess people don't check the news on the weekend?

Regarding the resumption of the pipeline: As was hoped, Colonial overestimated its restart date and now finally Americans can have some peace of mind that gasoline, diesel and jet fuel will begin flowing to affected areas once again.

Well, unfortunately, if you drove your kids to school this morning, as I did, and your indicator was on empty, as mine was, and you found that your usual station was completely out of gas and the one nearby had long lines, you might feel differently. Or should I demand that my kids spend the night at school to avoid driving up the gas prices?

It's no one else's fault that you let your gas get that low.

So yeah, personal responsibility take some.

There's nothing to take responsibility for. I drove my kids to school, and on the way back, the low fuel indicator came on so I needed to get gas. That's neither irresponsible nor panic buying.

Huh? Pro Tip: Consult your gas gauge BEFORE it starts getting anywhere near the red, especially because you're an informed citizen who surely knows about the gas supply issues that exist right now. You're welcome!

Actually, I was not aware that there were supply issues. Do you know why? Because the Governor specifically said yesterday that there were no supply issues. I guess we should have known he was lying.

That right there is your problem. Do you make all of your decisions based on information from people in POLITICAL positions? Read up on events and make you’re own informed decision. Or just be a lemming and wait for the government to tell you what to do.

I'm not too worried. Sunday's a ways from now, things will straighten out, and I don't intend to panic buy gas now, since I have half a tank. If worse comes to worse, we can drive a few of my son's teammates there. It'll be fine.

All that I can say is, unless some of you are in NC or a place where gas is truly out, freaking out over having to wait in a line for a little bit for gas or drive a little ways to get to a station with gas is the most white person thing ever. I thank God every day I was born black.

I don't think anyone is concerned with the inconvenience. It's more about wondering how long this will last and if we will get to the point where gas is truly out. I know people who were planning road trips, or have long commutes, or things like that and they are trying to figure out whether to change their plans.

Growing up, occasionally my family wondered whether our food would last the week. If someone has to cancel a road trip, they'll manage. Most people are panic buying gas - it is like the whole TP thing again.

Yes you should have known he was lying. If he had said nothing at all it would probably have been safe to assume that there wasn't a shortage, but once he denied it you should have known that there most certainly was.

Between the coaches, TD and parents there is an endless supply of gas in travel soccer.

It is pretty crazy. But it’s even more fascinating that water and gas/oil are endlessly supplied by Gaia and that the current established sociopolitical framework has us believing a system of scarcity to con us and scam us out of our time and money.

If only nikola would’ve survived to Thomas Alba’s treacherous and nefarious BS

The difference between this and the TP silliness is that you can store a lot of TP in your house. People were buying enough for months. You can only store 10-15 gallons of gas in your car (unless you are one of the idiots who is filling up containers, but that's a small percentage). The nervous and cautious have filled up already, the east coast has something like a 6 month supply of gas in storage, and the affected pipeline is coming back online now. This will blow over by the weekend, or early next week.

It is the same in that people are panic buying. That's the point, not the specific amount that they can panic buy and hoard. I agree that it will blow over by the weekend.

No, the problem is people not understanding the purpose and usage of a “State of Emergency”. In this case, it was simply to temporarily ease environmental restrictions to ensure the transportation of gas while the pipeline was being fixed. It did not mean a shortage, it was just meant to allow distribution via other means. But people hear “State of Emergency” and they lose their minds.

No - that is bullshit. There is a pipeline that was shut down for a week so less fuel is making its way to your local gas station. Panic buying is exacerbating the situation, but the shortage is rooted in less fuel being available due to the pipeline being offline.
