VA 44% of all gas stations without gasoline

I don't think anyone is concerned with the inconvenience. It's more about wondering how long this will last and if we will get to the point where gas is truly out. I know people who were planning road trips, or have long commutes, or things like that and they are trying to figure out whether to change their plans.

Adding that it is disconcerting to encounter closed pumps when we were reassured that their is no gas shortage.

Literally happening only because of panicked buyers.

No. Because every state would have similar data and they don't. It's being panic bought AND not replaced due to the pipeline shutdown.

AL 7%
WASH DC 10%
FL 11%
GA 43%
KY 2%
MD 11%
MS 5%
NC 65%
SC 43%
TN 16%
VA 44%
WV 4%

Why is VA so much higher? Higher amount of panicked buyers? No, it's likely delivery schedules.

Look around people. Just went by 5 gas stations, 4 were closed and the 5th had a police blockade for traffic with the line diverted up through a residential neighborhood. I went back several blocks and couldn’t find the end, gave up.

Also the pipeline co has said they aren’t going to pay the ransom.

Biden Administration is absolutely nowhere. And on top of it all every enemy nation state, hacker and terrorist group is seeing in real time how easy this is and how we have literally no plan whatsoever.

This is bad.

Beacause WV and KY are chill and are like hmmm if I don't get the gas to go shopping I will go hunting and get a deer and we will field dress it and eat it for dinner. Whose is dumb now???

Consumers are supposed to consume. Suppliers are supposed to supply.

One of those isn't doing their role. THAT'S the problem.

... and Government is supposed to protect (on a grand scale like this, not nanny state micromanagement stuff)

Well, unfortunately, if you drove your kids to school this morning, as I did, and your indicator was on empty, as mine was, and you found that your usual station was completely out of gas and the one nearby had long lines, you might feel differently. Or should I demand that my kids spend the night at school to avoid driving up the gas prices?

It's no one else's fault that you let your gas get that low.

So yeah, personal responsibility take some.

There's nothing to take responsibility for. I drove my kids to school, and on the way back, the low fuel indicator came on so I needed to get gas. That's neither irresponsible nor panic buying.

Huh? Pro Tip: Consult your gas gauge BEFORE it starts getting anywhere near the red, especially because you're an informed citizen who surely knows about the gas supply issues that exist right now. You're welcome!

Actually, I was not aware that there were supply issues. Do you know why? Because the Governor specifically said yesterday that there were no supply issues. I guess we should have known he was lying.

I love my walkability. House has a walk score of 97 . We are close enough to bike to all of the soccer practices too so can save the gas for game days

Oh and we both have always worked from home so no gas wasted commuting.

I imagine people who never could have automobiles would be flabbergasted by those who don’t want to use them. But to each his own. I like seeing the world beyond my few square miles and always will. If having a plug in car makes that easier on everybody else, I will do that too. Just not yet.

I still drive the 2 blocks to Whole Foods.

You could consider a mobility scooter.
