At least for my DS, the waitlists and rejections are just one in a string of challenges. Is it the worst? Most terrible? of course not. But during a year+ of some pretty terrible things in our family, it feels like the straw that broke the camel’s back.

And before anyone asks, the deaths were not directly Covid-related. One person got stuck in another country and had a heart attack. Another cruelly died in childbirth.

So sorry. Only we know what our kids have had to endure this year. What feels hard to one may not feel hard to another.

Ignore the people here who are judgey and quick to call everyone a helicopter parent. I don't subscribe to the "throw your kid out of the nest" school of parenting either.

Seems like the closer we get to May 1, more schools are going to their waitlists. Seems like this may be an active waitlist year after all.

Feels like this admissions cycle keeps going. Good luck to all, our kids have indeed been through a lot this year. Here's hoping for good news.

Music is taking very specific missing instrument or vocal majors now. On the WL zoom, the Dean said only Music would see movement prior to 5/1. Expect about 10% of class to come from waitlist. That's intentional so they can craft the class (gender/geographic diversity/ etc) exactly as they desire and not over enroll. Aim to wrap up by end of June/ early July. Won't say how many offered WL or accepted WL. If offered- will get 3 days to decide.
