a.k.a. Heroin. From the poppy. Or synthetic. Whatever you prefer. |
I am making assumptions just like everyone else on this forum. The assumptions are based on PP statements about the parents being the problem. Clearly the two youths involved have issues. PPs were blaming it on the parents. I was saying maybe their parents and g'parents were dead or not functional. It is all conjecture. No facts at all. Two can play at that game, so I joined in. See, I've made my point. |
I think you need to be tough on crime _and_ address the causes, not slack off on either. The US also has high income inequality -- maybe that leads to high criminality rates. I'd bet most criminals are unemployed. I can't see a person with a decent job going out and robbing and stealing. If we focused more on that, for example vocational training (instead of deciding everyone needs to go to college), that would probably help. But we still need enforcement of those who do break the law. |
Sentencing laws ARE NOT a deterrent. |
But they do keep the rest of us safe from dangerous people for longer. If we’re not going to address the problem, rehabilitate, etc, then at least keep law abiding citizens safe from harm. |
Lol wut? If teens know they can steal and kill without fear of consequence then yes are. Kids these days are doing all crime for social media. It’s not to put bread in their mouth. They have instragam accounts showing how bold they are. Catch up. |
It’s called “clout.” With absolutely no regard for the lives or well-being of other humans. It’s scary. |
And no regard for consequences to their own lives. So not going to be solved with sentencing laws. |
I believe you've described a sociopath. Incarceration does greatly limit a sociopath's ability to harm innocent people. |
Unfortunately, there’s no way to force people to be good parents. |
DP. If the choice is between violent criminals paying a cost or innocent citizens like me, I’m going to be okay with the violent criminals paying. |
Try comparing American cities and states that are tough on crime with those that aren’t. Then get back to us. |
