Gee, maybe we should open schools, show the police a little respect, and make birth control more readily available.
Nah. Let’s just be woke instead. |
| How about we start a campaign to write our mayor and council members and ask what they are going to do about the rise in carjackings? Because this is not the end. There will be more casualties. |
Why is it weird? It's unlawful to provide alcohol to minors. It's not unlawful to have a child who steals a car. |
| At what point will the city council do something? When the tax base dries up? |
That’s what’s insane. At no point is there any self accountability for these actions. It’s always “the system did this!” and because of hyper wokeness anyone who says otherwise will lose their job or be shamed on social media. So there really is no recourse. It’s just a super liberal city council that will continue to pass soft on crime laws that allow crime with impunity and then a bunch of poor people or gentrifiers getting shot and life just goes on apparently. Don’t even think about actually policing anymore. That’s racist. |
Basically this I think. Not before. Until the money dries up there is no incentive to change. I also can't really get a sense of how many people are so liberal that their brains have completely fallen out, versus the liberals who want to see money spent on improving people's lives but draw a hard line at fearing constantly for their safety and property. |

This is a good thread on the topic: https://www.reddit.com/r/washingtondc/comments/mko40c/another_dc_resident_killed_by_a_stolen_car_he_was/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb
It really is “sociopathic youth crime” and thanks to Allen and Bowser kids know they can commit crime without consequence. Again, this topic is too intense for most of the liberal idealists in this town who will simply brush aside the realities of this and double down on more youth rehabilitation act bills and so forth. Fk you Charles Allen. |
Please describe what you mean by "actually policing." |
I doubt you were arguing in good faith, and are merely looking for an opportunity to post a woke hot take or a snarky comment meant to dunk on my interpretation of what community policing should mean, and anything I say will be met with an instant knee jerk rebuttal about how stop and frisk and broken windows policing was racist and all that, but here goes: Police should not feel or be handicapped in their ability to stop violent crime. They should wear body cameras and if they break the law be arrested. We should get rid of qualified immunity. However, the tough on crime policing of the 90s worked. Many people were incarcerated and many lives were shattered because of that rise in arrests, but crime was measurably lowered. We have now hit the era that since there is a disproportionate rate of arrest and incarceration by a certain group of people, even if those arrests and convictions are justified, because of the disproportionate arrest statistics being so outsized, rather than actually trying to stymy the crime commiters actions (no matter what group they belong to) the latest movement is to provide “restorative justice” for violent crime, to lower sentences which incentives crime. That’s not racist that’s a fact. |

He looks like a kind man and I am sorry his baby and pregnant wife and unborn child will not have him in their lives anymore. It’s not fair at all he was killed and his life stolen. It’s not fair the people that killed him are getting off easy. |
Tough on crime policing didn't work. No creditable researcher has shown causation there. But you can draw a direct line between breaking up families and people up thread asking where the parents were. Well, if you jail them for 10 years for petty stuff then that's where they are. |
| The absurd thing about these situations is that the woke think that black people want to live in some police free war zone. So condescending and clueless. Every color of person wants order and safety. |
The "tough on crime" policing worked, if the goal was to incarcerate people, break up families, destabilize society, and enrich the for-profit prison industry. If you think that statement is "snarky" or "woke", I don't know what to say. You might try reading "Locking Up Our Own," by James Forman. |

What a beautiful smile. I'm sure all of you arguing about consequences for the perpetrators have donated to the Gofundme, right? |
