out of control teens steal car and kill ANOTHER person

Good thing the Mayor defended the last set of killer teens. It probably helped embolden more teenage criminal activity, because there are clearly no consequences for anything anymore.

Where are the parents!! It’s not a community problem as I hear so many activist portray. It starts at home. Stop blaming others for ones mishaps.

They too will serve juvenile life I’m guessing.

I think we need to change sentencing laws in D.C. I'm for leniency but 5 years in prison for murder is a spit in the face for the dead victim's family.

Enough is enough. If these teens are going to be reckless enough to deliberately endanger someone's life and kill them, they should be getting 25 years in actual prison (transition them at age 21).

Not sure that people are following this thread through that is posted above, but the young man did in fact die on Easter Sunday. Brian Johnson. Out to buy last minute Easter treats for the kids and baby supplies from Target.

Charge the parents as well as the juveniles for these type of crimes. Their lack of effective parenting created this problem and they should be held accountable in some way too.

Oh my god this is heartbreaking. That poor man’s family and children.

According to police, a red Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on C Street, Northeast, around 1:30 a.m. Sunday when it sped through a red light.

The Nissan, which police say appears to have been operated by juveniles, collided with a silver Toyota Camry operated by Brian Johnson, 30, who was a resident of D.C., said police

D.C. Police added that one of the cars then crashed into a local resident’s front yard before catching fire.

Johnson eventually passed away at a hospital after the crash, D.C. Police said.

Surprise, surprise. Kids KNOW that in the off chance that they're caught stealing a car (and killing a person in the process) that they'll basically get away with it and be free by age 21. Who are the stupid ones here?

Wish the car had landed on Allen's lawn. . .smh

This is a reason the schools need to open. Teens have been neglected by the city for the last year. We can open bars - but can't figure out how to open schools. These kids need to supports that are provided by the structure of the school system.

Aren't schools open in DC?

We need to put about 50% of dc in prison to fix the crime

No - in person instruction is the exception for most middle schoolers or high school students.
Example: starting April 26th - Deal Middle School will open for the 1st time in more than a year for classes for less than 1/3 of the students. The students are only there for 1/2 day one day a week.

The city had been very clear - teens who depend on the public school system do not matter.
