If this is the case maybe they mailed all the notifications yesterday, and will send emails today, so everyone hears the same day. I guess that’s what they meant by the notifications being sent April 5 and 6. |
So, you’re saying we should have “grace”? |
PP was joking. |
LOL, absolutely. And just think of all the "resiliency" you and your children are gaining by this prolonged notification period.

DS had no clue he was being considered for AAP last year so his resiliency was not in question. We did get an email and a letter last year. The letter is in our files because it says we might need it if we choose to move him to a Center or enroll him in AAP classes in Middle School. Please understand that the people on this forum are not representative of many parents in the County. There are plenty of kids who are accepted into AAP who defer placement because they are happy with the base school. We have kids at our school who go to the Center and return to the base school because they don't like the Center. AAP is not something that everyone with a child under consideration are waiting for with baited breath. Good luck. I know that this is something that is important for the Parents here because they think this is the best option for their kids. |
Our "gifted" child will be fine at their base school or center school, and we like our base school and center school. We're anxious to know because it impacts our daily schedule for the next four years. |
We are looking for a place to move. Depending on our DC getting into AAP, will help us narrow our search are or broaden it. As we would like for DC to have friends at school |
Please “dial down” the attitude. |
| No email today yet either. It’s April 6. Wtf is going on? |
I guess I don’t understand why ppl are so upset? It’s still April 6. If they are mailed, we might get it in a couple days. I’ll be upset if we don’t hear by end of this week. But what does it matter in the big scheme of things? |
Because I have been waiting for months and need some good news. This has been a very tough year. |
No, in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter. But this is the digital age. It takes seconds to post a communication letting people know the method of notification. It is the least they can do. It takes seconds to send a FCPS email saying this is when emails or mail is going out. I just don't see why they struggle with such basic communication. |
What is their deal? The committee has already met and decided. Why can’t they send an email? |
I'm the poster who asked earlier if everyone here wanted to move to a center, because otherwise I don't understand why anyone would be so riled up to complain that an email hasn't gone out before noon. I'm waiting for an answer and curious, but also don't feel like we have much riding on this either way, since my kid will stay at base school. |
Hahaha! Thank you for the laughs! I just read through this entire, rather intense topic thread, and thoroughly enjoyed the humor from these posters. As usual, FCPS does not fail to disappoint, but DCUM has some excellent and entertaining writers who help keep my mood from plummeting.
