Yes, Blair also has 10X the National Merit Finalists, Regeneron Scholarships than the other HS. It's head and shoulders over those other schools.

I believe what PP means is that the Blair magnet takes some of the county's brightest students whereas the rest of Blair just takes whomever. So the school is really a school within a school. The magnet is a 10. Genpop is a 3. Weighted average is a 4.

Considering how strong the some posters think the Magnet it makes one ask how bad is the local population that pulls it down to such a low rating and what causes that. It is disingenuous to just point to Magnet test scores or one year aberrations, also one must also consider the factors on why MoCo put the magnet in that school because we all know it wasn't because it is centrally located. If someone needs charity it is daft to go around claiming to be academically) rich.

Because Takoma Park is a politically important constituency and the magnet sets aside seats for in-boundary. Notably the Richard Montgomery and Poolesville magnets do not set aside seats for in-boundary.

That is correct and I am not sure if it is official but the largest feeder school to RMIB is its own feeder JW...about 25 seat a year.

I have a sixth grader in the magnet at TPMS. The school is very well run. Only science, math and computer science are part of the magnet program but the teachers for ask classes have been excellent. I’ve been very impressed.

The other two TKPK schools have been less impressive. They are extremely large.

Our kids were in the TPES magnet. The local CES at PBES and the magnet at TPMS and we loved all 3 equally. I can't imagine a better group of schools.

A letter was sent to the MCPS BOE. They are probably still digesting it. Letters will also be sent to the PGCPS BOE and the PG PTAs.

I find it interesting that MCPS provides this option for mostly wealthy white parents in Takoma Park to segregate their kids within their own schools and there is absolutely zero self-reflection about it and how racist it is.
