Find a trainer who is also a “national scout”. There are plenty in the area. Have them recommend your kid. You’re welcome

It think that was mentioned before ...earlier in the thread - Avatus

Or just have them join FCV. Win every game and get national team call ups. The coaches at FCV know all of the scouts and can favorably recommend players.

Because the scout is a parent at FCV. The delusion on the fcv sidelines is real.

NO FCV will only give your child depression and anxiety. They haven't "won every game" for years. The coaches only know Diane Drake - Dru (club hopper) is on FCV.

Has been at FCV for many years. Not a club hopper

This whole thread is proof of mediocre FCV 07 players and wacko FCV 07 parents.

Besides a stint at McLean.

Oh please. I’ve seen kids play at 4-7 clubs through their youth career. Playing at McLean and FCV is not club hopping. Club hoppers tend to move in season regularly.

Most kids start out at a very local club from U9 to U11. Then folks will move for a better fit by U13. Then by U14-15 depending on ambition and skill level they may move to a club that showcases.

For many kids that could be a minimum journey of three clubs and is pretty normal.

Mainly looking at FCV and McLean because of proximity, national rankings (top drawer), seeing them play in a few tournaments. Considerations are GA vs. ECNL. FCV seems to be a small club but have heard good things about coaches (Bobby and Christian?) and they do well in every age group 07 and up. McLean has more resources, is in ECNL, but teams don't rank as well. My daughter hopes to play in college and beyond and main objective is to find good training, strong competition, mentorship. Recommendations would be appreciated.

In all honesty, you should be considering first the ECNL teams (Mclean, loudoun, vda and bryc) simply for access to the encl platform and I would reach out to the coaches and attend practices and choose which team best fits your needs. Then if there is not a fit, then check out FCV and Arlington but there is a lot of risk here with the long term viability of GAL as an elite platform for girls. Next tier down would be the VPL/CCL teams, there are a lot of options (Great Falls, Herndon, etc.) - probably not the best route if your DD wants to play in college but it can happen.

The above is very jaded advice. What type of colleges are you tentatively considering? If it’s a soccer power or academic power, your choices may be different than if it’s a local college or almost everything else. I wouldn’t worry about leagues, they have been coming and going every year (WAGs used to be queen) Either ECNL or GA will provide you a showcase platform. If you look at the 21 commits ECNL has a slight edge in number and quality, although early for the 22s, the GA platforms in the area seem to be doing better than the ECNL clubs. Look for a club that has a stable coaching slate and support roles for their platforms (ie admins, physical conditioning folks, college placement roles etc...). In addition to the standard ID sessions, contact the coaches and ask to attend a training session or two. A couple of weeks exploring the environment should give you enough information to make a decision.

Depending where you live, Bethesda ECNL would also be an option. Metro United is also a GA option in VA.

that's right. you should be considering BRYC who has lost nearly every game across all age groups except oldest this fall.

Maybe it's easier to displace a current starter there and get playing time?

Lol. Interesting if it’s better to be a sub at a winning ecnl team vs. starter at a losing ecnl team vs starter at a winning GAL team?

College coaches are rarely impressed by a player who can't beat out the competition on their own team. The player is at the level they are at and will draw the interest from schools who believe the player fits their level.

It is also easier to be seen by a coach if you are actually playing.
