The TikTok Teens are Mocking Us

Yep. I’m 41 and I do indeed have a side part and skinny jeans. I don’t mind being teased for my old person style...it beats the alternative of trying to dress like a teenager, which seems unbearably cringey.

Hahaha yes. Think means girls, "I'm not a regular mom, I'm a COOL mom." It's like, no you're not, you're just embarrassing yourself.

Taking this really hard? Like for real?

DP. Yes. They’re big mad. “They can’t take my skinny jeans and side part and laugh cry emoji! This is the generation that ate tide pods! We invented all their trends! I’ll rock my skinny jeans to the liquor store, ha!” It’s sooooooo embarrassing, they sound legit like Boomers.

Original pp and yep, I am seeing these exact same memes. I am so embarrassed for my peers. Imagine being in your 30s and feeling the need to taunt 18 year olds about not being able to go to the liquor store. Like calm down and go check on your 401k or something.

I’m the PP. also millennial. I was texting my sister recently and there’s a big split between millennials. Ones who are like 28-35 are okay. They don’t try to act younger but they behave in age appropriate ways and are reasonably on trend. The ones who are 35-40 are the cringe millennials. Stuck in like 2008-2012. They’re still obsessed with stuff like Friends and the Office. They like infinity scarves and knee boots. Think people care to see lots of pictures of their kids. They’re the ones who are having the biggest issue with this because it’s like they actually don’t understand yeah you’re at or approaching middle age. I also think they have this weird complex because Gen Z kids are way more confident than they ever were at that age. They also didn’t really have ugly awkward stages the way other generations did because they’ve grown up with stuff like makeup tutorials and social media showing them trends. Old millennials are weirdly bitter about this.

So basically you’re saying you’re a millennial but you’re cool bc you’re in the good group and all older millennials are desperate losers? Sorry but that sounds just as desperate as the uncool older ones. And what is reasonably ontrend? The fashion forward trends that look great on teens and college students generally don’t look right on any millennial or older person.

Lmao Gen Z teens/college students are not confident. They’re messes and they all have mental health issues.

Anonymous wrote:They are not mocking you for your jeans or part. They’re mocking you because millennials can’t STFU that the next generation considers them old and doesn’t want to dress like them. So they’re kicking the millennials for whining so damn much about their hair and jeans.

These kids don’t care what you wear. You’re old to them no matter what. They don’t want to dress like 35-40 year olds because no 16 year old ever has. And it’s embarrassing so many of you care that bad about what 16 year olds think about your clothes! Wear whichever jeans you want, they’re barely noticing you and you won’t trick them into thinking you’re 16 if you do wear the jeans they do.

-35 yo

I don’t see any millennials whining. Where are they? Social media? Everyone knows regular social media users are mentally stunted narcissists and shouldn’t be taken seriously.

Oh, buddy. You just sound out of touch. Imagine saying that people who use the telephone are mentally stunted narcissists, or we should avoid the post office because no one who sends letter will be taken seriously.

Social media is ubiquitous. It's a way to communicate, to self-express, to entertain, to inform. You can decide it's not for you but you are basically writing off a big chunk of the world if you stomp your foot and decry everyone who is on social media as being a stunted narcissist.

Who is stomping their foot? You seem more upset about my comment than I am about social media. Your analogy with the telephone and mail is silly. Perhaps I should have clarified though, I think people using social media to promote a business are normal but anyone else constantly using it (which is why I said regular users) to post selfie’s/news about themselves or even to entertain or inform is looking for validation, attention, and “energy” from others (if that makes sense). Classic narcissists. They can put out good content but they’re still narcissists.

40 year old moms don’t set the current fashions. We were late to skinny jeans and will be late to discard them.

I have a beautiful house, I drive a luxury SUV, I can take amazing vacations. What do they have? Nothing. They’re kids.

Wow. Calm down. They are children. Of course they haven’t had enough time to become as materialistic and arrogant as you yet. Give them time. For now, they have something you cannot buy. Youth.

I want to see the funny videos - the two posted were not funny, but I love good satire.

Other than that, who cares what anyone else thinks of my clothes and hair.

It’s funny, I’m 43, and I remember the first time I saw an ad in a magazine for “jeggings” and I laughed so hard, thinking no way are these ever going to catch on!

Yes, could someone post the videos that are actually funny?

You guys are adults talking about children. Just want to be clear. You’re trying to position yourself as better than ... kids. Pathetic.

Older millennials are lame. They just are. Their humor isnt funny. they think liking Target is a personality, they reference Mean Girls like it’s still 2004, someone did this at the top of the page. All their references are dated. The 1980-1985 millennials are totally different than the 85-93 millennials.

You don’t even have the app is what’s funny. You don’t know how to find them.
